Eat beef if you want, why festival, asks Naidu

Mumbai, Feb 20 (PTI): Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday questioned the rationale behind holding a "beef festival", saying one could eat beef if one wanted, but there was no need to organise a festival for it.

"You want to eat beef, then eat. Why (a) festival? Similarly, a kiss festival... If you wish to kiss, why do you need a festival or anyone's permission for it," he asked.

Speaking at the platinum jubilee celebrations of R A Podar College of Commerce here, Naidu also hit out at those who raised slogans in support of Parliament attack convict Muhammad Afzal Guru.

"Then you have Afzal Guru. People are chanting his name. What is happening? He tried to explode our Parliament," Naidu said.

In July 2017, the students of IIT-Madras had held a "beef festival" on the campus to protest against the ban on cattle slaughter.

Similarly, an advisory was issued in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month in connection with the death anniversaries of Afzal Guru and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Maqbool Bhat.

Bhat and Guru were hanged and buried inside New Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984, and on February 9, 2013, respectively.

Let me give it back in other words to Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu,
If you don't want to eat beef, just don't eat.
Why your people lynching in the name of Gowmatha ?
why force your beliefs on others who want to eat beef ??
Why beef ban when you encourage beef exports in Millions of Tons.

Mr. Naidu is pretending as if he doesn't know anything!. Beef festival is not a celebration but a protest just like they did bharat bandh for Rs. 14 hike in cooking gas cylinder in 2008!!!. Can we too ask him, 'if you don't want, don't pay! Why bharat bandh'!?. Its his alma maters cow politics that is responsible for all the unrest and killings in the country!. Mr. Naidu, please don't interfere in peoples food habits and them have quality protein at the low price!.

It appears that our Vice President is not aware that the BJP Government had banned beef/cow slaughter and in protest the festival of Beef eating was organised. Now that Supreme Court has stayed the ban Vice President is singing all together a different tune . What a band of comedians are governing India.......... Pity you India....... When will India be truly liberated from this comedian rule?
