Daijiworld Media Network – Hosapete (RJP)

Hosapete, Feb 20: A clash between two groups broke out in Hosapete town during the Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti procession on Monday, February 19.

Hindu Jagarana Vedike workers and a group of Muslim youth are the two groups engaged in the clashes.

The procession was taken out by Vedike. The trouble broke out when a Vedike worker attempted to tie a flag to a pole and was thrashed by a group of Muslim youths.

Angered by this, Hindu Jagarana Vedike workers started pelting stones at the nearby mosque and shattered its glass windows.

The violence later aggravated when the two groups clashed with each other.

Assistant Commissioner Gargi Jain rushed to the spot with police personnel and quelled the mob. Police pleaded with the angry protesters to remain calm and call off their protest.

Vedike workers had blocked the highway and all vehicles bound for Shivamogga and Raichur inconveniencing the road users.

Shivaji is a hero to Marathis. Why are kannadigas celebrating a Marathi king?

The only reason is that the Kannadigas have no self esteem or pride or have no historical knowledge. Otherwise, there were scores of great empires/kingdoms and emperors/kings like Kadambas, Gangas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Hoysalas, (just to name the most famous) whose great accomplishments and legacies could be celebrated.

Have Kannadigas lost all sense of self respect and pride or have no idea of history? If we want to celebrate, let us celebrate Karnataka empires like Kadambas, Gangas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas or Vijayanagar, and other Kannada empires and kingdoms. Don't the people celebrating shivaji jayanti know that the marathas starting from the beginning of their kingdom invaded and looted Karnataka? The peshwas even looted and desecrated Sringeri temple.
It is time for Kannadigas to wake up.

In any clash, riot and untoward incident, it is very very obvious who starts it. Then they play the victim.
