Mangaluru: Srinivas Institute of Technology Merlapadavu to host 'Envision-18'


A national level techno-cultural fest 'Envision-18' will be organised on February 20 and 21 by Srinivas Institute of Technology, Merlapadavu, here. 

The event will be inaugurated by Vidyaranya Kollipal, senior manager- human resources, Mphasis, Bengaluru.

More than 800 students from over 50 engineering colleges are expected to be participating in the various technical and cultural events organised by different branches.

CA A Raghavendra Rao, president, A Shama Rao Foundation, will preside over the function, Dr A Srinivas Rao, vice president, A Shama Rao Foundation, will be the guest of honour.

On February 20, events will be organised under different departments. Mechanical engineering department will be organising Tech Thought, Vroom Vroom, Idiot Box and Mech-A-Troop. Information science engineering department will conduct Enchant, Enigma and Web Designing/App Development. The department of computer science and engineering will organise Eloquence, Code-O-Fiesta, Survival Of The Fittest and Xplorena. The department of electronic and communication engineering will conduct Paper View, Snapagram, Techcharades and Explorix. Electrical and electronics engineering department will conduct Thesaurus Fiesta, Vaskoda Avengers and Sherlocked. The department aeronautical engineering will conduct Water Rocket, Glider Compitition and Platagium. The department automobile engineering will conduct Restrepo, Component Simulator and Minute To Win It. The department marine engineering will conduct Robo Wars and Ignium. The department nanotechnology engineering will conduct Nano Slides and Robo Design.

On February 21, different cultural events will be organised. Singing events namely solo, duet and group singing will be organised under the banner Swarangini. Solo, duet and group dance will be organised under the banner of Nruthya. Other events like Dance war, Mad Ads, Chup Chup Charlie, KhulJa SimSim, Debate, Dumb Charades, Stress Interview, Mannequin Challenge, Face painting, Scrap Art, Pencil Sketch, Dress Designing, Musically and Photography will be organised. These events will be open for all engineering students across the country as stated by Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal of the institution.

The event will conclude in a highly magnetic event- musical evening by 'The Unknown' band. The fest will be convened by Jayaram Thumbe, professor department of mechanical engineering and organised by the student organisors Shivani K and Ganesh Thammaiah.
