Kasargod: Car with unaccounted cash intercepted - man arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Feb 16: Police personnel of Kumble station intercepted a car near Gopalakrishna hall in Shantipalla and found that a person who was occupying the car, was carrying unaccounted cash worth Rs 14,26,500.

In connection with this finding, occupant of the car, Abdul Asif (48), son of Muhammed Haji from Adur Kadamkode, was arrested. The cash in question was covered in old newspapers, which was then wrapped in plaster and stored in plastic bag that was hidden beneath the car seat, it is learnt.

The raid was conducted on the basis of secret information passed on to Kumble police circle inspector, K Prem Sadan, by undisclosed sources. It is said that during police questioning, the accused said that this was the sale proceeds from the areca nut stock he had sold at Mangaluru. But he was unable to produce any proof to support his claim.

middleman and builders should be brought to books. Please inform IT dept if they and shop keepers does not provide Bill with GST. Even now in government dept, people take openly bribe. All government offices and websites should clearly display requirements with fees and procedures . I hope our clean Mayor will notice this.

Yes, all Congress supporters are black-money holders. BJP supporters are just 4 years old, born in May 2014, innocent babies, do/know nothing illegal. Not even bribing a police officer to let go without a challan by paying Rs.50/- or tipping a peon in govt. offices to get the file out.

I never said bjp supporters are innocent.. the curupt mindset is set deep inside almost every indian.. because for decades we have had the curse of only corrupt to the core leaders, with exception of shastriiji and vajpaye.. changing the mindset is not easy, be it cleaniness, or hiding the money. One modi is not enough.. his own set of MPs like Yaddi Reddy chaddi are a shame too.. but I am talking about a mindset that has systematically brought a concept of chaltha hai, it is govt loss not mine kind of. tell me who has set this up?

@Rajesh Udipi;Rajesh you never let a single chance to blame congress for anything or anytime. Do it further .But dont forget that you too were born during Congress time and belong also to one of them. There are many normal and honest people too exist. It depends on type of people who nothing brings them to live to cheat people ,or only live with blaming others for everything and everyone without seeing their own back.

As per section 10(1), agricultural income earned by the taxpayer in India is exempt from tax. If he can prove that the sale proceeds of areca is from his land, he has not concealed the income. He my have concealed the cash under car seat, since carrying cash openly is risky. Since he sold it to many people, he may not have taken cash more than 2 lakhs from a person. He has to prove he has not taken more than 2 lakhs from one individual.

On the other hand, if he is purchasing and selling areca, the head of income under the act is "Business Income" that is taxable. If that is the case, the govt has to deduct tax and impose fine and give the remaining amount to him. He is liable for prosecution also. Here, chances of his getting out of the problem is 50-50%

It's not there mistake at all. From the beginning they are having habit to keep money at home as it's considered to be safe rather than in bank. Moreover are remiting there money thru hundi urf havala for small gain. Reason behind they do not want interest as it's haraam in there religion. Earlier govt..done good thing by equalling bank rate with hundi rate..people started to go towards bank. Present govt..known very well money which landed earlier resting at home safely from long.
Still unaccounted old notes exchange with new in some places with less margin.
Modiji even known well dodamma tean also carrying unaccountable money..introduced demontesiation. Kellog's boy once carried dollar and intercepted.in.boston airport. Now it's become difficult for dodamma to buy bangudw taking help of ambika soni. Ek teer se sab ghayal..

Cash transaction is limited to Rs. 2 lakh only. Anything above that is illegal. Plus you must have proof of sale. All scams start small.

Areca and other agri products sold/purchased - no receipt. Fish/fruits/vegetables - no receipt. Who needs a record anyway - the items are perishable - gone in a day or two.

Who is to be blame ? Catch the wholesaler who purchased the product. Take the man to the purchaser - he will deny even knowing him. Let the officials install surveillance device - can they ? All are hand-in-hand. Raid any wholesale shop and inquire about for source of items - he will have none. His stock will be in Millions - not just Laks !

Ask the person who gave inside information - its certain that there is some personal enmity.

Its been nearly a year since GST came into effect. Only petty purchasers like me who buy for household requirements pay GST because I want the document for future repairs.

Tell me frankly does any of your saying makes any sense? So before GST there were no tax? GST is a tax which is integrated tax rather than taxing in each stage. Before GST online shopping giants like amazon flipkart used to keep their warehouse in some places where tax is very less and used to avoid tax while selling products to customers.

Many people including Rahul Ghandi says he can't understand GST as if he understand tax system before GST. In GST we know tax rates exactly and all legit bill will have GSTN.
Only people who were not paying tax before and who needs to pay now crying against it.
In India people want everything but no one want to pay tax or work.

In bangalore most of auto drivers simply sitting free but when you ask them for a ride they are not ready to come. And same people talk about unemployment.

    Hemanth,

In my entire message you perceived just my complaining about GST ? For years the wholesalers buy agri products form small scale farmers without document, that did not matter to you at all ? Who is the bigger chor here - the farmer, or the wholesaler ?

It may turn out that the man caught with the cash here is not a farmer himself, he could be a petty collector of produce from various farmers, he is then categorized a businessman. Nevertheless, if he is a farmer or it happens with any farmer, the officials will chase him to produce source of the money ! No affect on the one who purchased from him because he will refuse to admit the sale/purchase at all ? So, who is the taxability for ? Me and the farmer only - not for the big fish ?
