Mangaluru: CCB police arrest aide of Kali Yogish in connection to serial shootouts

Mangaluru, Feb 15: The city crime branch (CCB) police have succeeded in arresting an aide of underworld element Kali Yogish in connection to the series of shootouts in the city.

The arrested is Tejpal (33), a resident of Mulky.

Police said in a press note that Kali Yogish had orchestrated the series of firing incidents in the city reported in December 2017. Bike-borne men had opened fire at Shri Rajashri Jewellers, Kinnigoli under Mulky police station limits on December 7 and at M Sanjeev Shetty Silk and Sarees, Car Street under Mangaluru North police station limits on December 8.

The police had earlier arrested other aides of Kali Yogish, namely Manoj Kumar and Chandrashekar in connection to the shootouts and seized two pistols and seven live bullets from them. Tejpal had gone absconding all this while.

The police seized two mobile phones from the accused.

CCB police inspector Shantaram, PSI Kabbal and others were part of the arrest operation.
