Bantwal: Container truck carrying cattle illegally tumbles, bullock dies

Bantwal, Feb 13: A container truck that was being used to illegally transport cattle went out of control of its driver and tumbled at Hanchikatte near here on Monday February 12.
The truck in question was found to be carrying a total of 14 cattle. Out of them, a bullock was found to have died.

The vehicle was bringing nine bullocks and five she-buffaloes from the direction of Chikkamagaluru towards Mangaluru illegally when its driver lost control over the vehicle when it was negotiating the road bend at Hanchikatte.

Those in the vehicle fled from the scene immediately after the accident. Locals then joined hands with the police to rescue the animals. Police sub-inspector of the rural station here, Prasanna, along with other staff, conducted spot inspection. Under the guidance of Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Ravikanthe Gowda, a special team has been formed and investigation has been undertaken.

    Only cow meat is banned in most of the state. Buffalo meat is allowed . Issue is of illegal slaughter house. If anyone having permit to run the slaughter house, nobody can stop you. Stealing of cows and illegal transport is not a new issue in DK. It is going on since many decades. Due to cracking of illegal slaughter house, people working in this illegal business is loosing easy money and making noise.

    the poor farmers have no other option. Nothing to eat. no jobs, what other option . they are starving & so are the poor cattle.they sell the poor near starving cattle to others & they will sell it to the big traders , who export them to pakistan & other gulf countries. First stop the export of meat then lets talk, Put a ban on exports, of leather goods .Feku is happy, the meat Industry has beaten even the Basmati rice exports from India, ,,,,,Walk the talk ...

    Dear Ummar. we are not telling to stop eating the meats. but please don't rob the cows or any other animals from the poors who mean them as a god in their life. If some people rob your goats from your hut is it ok for you, how pain full it is. so make it legal by creating some farms
