Mangaluru: Two-day event to commemorate Srinivas College’s 30th anniversary on Feb 13, 14

Mangaluru, Feb 12: The Srinivas group of colleges is celebrating its 30th year of establishment. A two day programme including Graduation Day for Srinivas Group of Colleges, Founder’s Day & College Day for Srinivas University & Srinivas Group of Colleges has been organized at Srinivas Campus, Merlapadav, Valachil on February 13 and 14.

Dr Ramesh Unnikrishnan, regional officer and director, All India Council of Technical Education, South West Regional Office, Bengaluru and Naganagouda S J, AVP and head, human resources, Global Edge Software Limited, Bengaluru will be the chief guests on February 13 for the graduation day. Veerappaji B Shivanna, head, campus hiring, Atos Global IT Services Limited, Mumbai will be the chief guest on February 14 for the founder’s day and college day function.

CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor, Srinivas University, Mangaluru and president, A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru will preside over the function on both the days.

About 10,000 students of Srinivas group of colleges will participate in the function. More than 200 students who have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities will be awarded during the function. Also, 15 students who studied in Srinivas Group of Colleges and secured ranks in university exams will be felicitated with A Shama Rao Foundation gold medals.

The annual awards instituted by the governing council of A Shama Rao Foundation to recognize and honor the people who contribute substantially to the development of identified area of our society will be given during the function.

A Shama Rao memorial award for the outstanding contribution of individual and community development in the field of education, agriculture, employment generation and literary services will be given to K Seetharama Rai Savanoor, distinguished philanthropist.

A Shama Rao memorial outstanding teacher award of the year goes to Vasudeva Rao, graduate assistant (High school teacher), Holy Family Girls High School, Bajpe, for his dedicated services as teacher, for his innovative practices in teaching science and mathematics to high school students.

A Shama Rao memorial award for the outstanding achievement in social contribution will be received by Ullas Krishna Pai, for his involvement in sharing the good conduct and character among children for the last three decades, so that they could became law abiding citizens of India.

A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, was established in 1988 with avowed aim of imparting education which could mould the character of the students and make them responsible citizens of the country. It was the firm belief of the founder Adka Shama Rao that education is the tool to transform society.
