Mangaluru: Canara Catholic women's mega convention on March 4 - Logo launched

Mangaluru, Feb 11: Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh is set to organize a mega convention of Canara Catholic women on March 4 this year at St Agnes Special School ground at Bendorwell in the city, informed Anil Lobo, president of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru.

General secretary of All India Women's Congress Janet D;Souza unveiled the logo of Canara Catholic women's convention.

Addressing the media here on Saturday February 10, Anil Lobo said," Catholic Sabha has planned this convention to unite the women from the community and deliberate on the subject of their empowerment and bringing them into mainstream in order to enable them to play a positive role in the society. Nearly 5,000 Catholic women are expected to take part in the convention."

He also added, "Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will preside over the convention, MLA J R Lobo, chief whip of the government in legislative council, Ivan D'Souza, NRI businessman, Ronald Colaco, Bethany congregation assistant superior general, Sr Lillys, Fr J B Crasta, MP Noronha, Michelle Queenie D'Costa who passed IAS exam, will grace the convention."

Secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Veronica Cornelio, will deliver the keynote address. 'Sthreeyarigaagi Sarakara' a book regarding government facilities for women and women's rights will be released on the occasion. Ten women achievers of the society who worked from the grass root level in the field of agriculture, business, health, social service, education, literature, sports, government service, professionals and specially abled person categories will be conferred the 'Catholic Sabha Sthree Sadhan Award 2018', he informed.

He also said," A rally will be taken out from Kadri Mallikatte to Bendorewell to create awareness among the people on environment protection and cleanliness and also conduct street plays.

Janet D'Souza expressed happiness at unveiling the logo of Canara Catholic women's convention and thanked Catholic Sabha for inviting her for the programme. "Women empowerment is the subject which is close to my heart and I will do my best to support the convention, I wish all the best for the future endeavours in this direction," she said.

Entrepreneur, Eulalia D'Souza, released the invitation for Canara Catholic women's convention.

General secretary, Celestine D'Souza, DCCW president Terry Pais, convener, Sharel D Souza, and others were present.
