Bengaluru: Priyank takes on PM Modi for his jibe against dad Mallikarjun Kharge

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 7: Even before Karnataka’s assembly polls are announced, the ruling Congress party and opposition BJP have already got themselves embroiled in a bitter war of words with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the receiving end for his jibe at Congress floor leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge from Karnataka’s IT/BT and Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge.

The young Kharge took to twitter to hit out at Modi for the latter’s comment on his father Mallikarjun Kharge that his fate will be decided by the voters of Kalaburagi and said in a democracy the Prime Minister’s fate is also decided by the electorate.

Priyank Kharge tweeted: "In a democracy PM’s fate also is decided by people. People of Kalburagi & Karnataka will decide Kharge’s fate. Till then let us discuss Gujarat Model of development v/s Karnataka Model. Great oratory skills can’t mask lies for long."

Modi on Wednesday had sarcastically said that Mallikarjun Kharge’s speech in the Parliament could be his farewell speech after the Karnataka elections later this year.

Referring to Bashir Badri’s poem, which Kharge recited in his speech in Lok Sabha, PM Modi hoped that the Karnataka MP’s words were being heard by the Karnataka CM too.

"Great to hear the PM speak on Basavanna. Now it is time to #WalkTheTalk. Basavanna believed in "equality". Will he & his party still change the constitution which stands for everyone or they want only a Hindu Rashtra? "Sabka saath sabka vikas" is only for speeches?," Priyank asked.

Priyank said while Prime Minister has invoked Basavanna, the Lingayats will be keen to hear his views on the demand for a separate religion for the Lingayats if and when the State Government recommends it.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister also joined by tweeting: "PM @narendramodi. It was good of you to have remembered me in the Parliament today. I am glad you also remembered Basavanna. Basavanna said "those with wealth will build temples; what do I do a poor man?"

"Kannadigas will thank you sir if you could follow Basavanna’s teachings," Siddaramaiah remarked.

Mallikarjun Kharge had, in his speech referred to the poem saying: "Dushmani jam karkaro. Lekin yeh gunjaish rahein, jab kabhi hum dost ho jay, toh sharmindana ho- vaguely meaning- that even in a rivalry, there should be a scope to become friends again."

In an indirect reference to Siddaramaiah’s recent war-of-words with Amit Shah and his comments on Modi, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the former remembers Kharge’s words too.

The Prime Minister further reminded Kharge of two additional lines of the of the poem - Jee chahta hain sach bole. Jee bahot chahata hain sach bole. Kya karein, hosala nahi hota- thus taking a dig at the latter that he (Kharge), is not able to gather guts to say the truth."

"I do not know if after Karnataka elections, Kharge will be in the same place or not. And thus, it could be his farewell speech as well," Modi further said.

PM Modi projecting the heavily corruption tainted former jail bird Yeddy as Karnataka CM is the biggest disgrace and an insult to all Kannadigas. Interest, safety and prosperity of Karnataka is safe in the hands of CM Siddaramaiah.
Further, Yeddy can only be expected to release maximum Cauvery water to TN simply because AIADMK are BJP allies and thereby betray Kannadigas. Also Mahadayi issue will never be resolved in Karnataka's favour if Yeddy is there just because Goa government is also BJP.
Therefore, it has to be Congress in Karnataka. It has to be CM Siddaramaiah again.

There are no new jobs today and those with jobs are losing them. Modi/BJP government is a curse to the nation. Modi government has been exposed - why does a private company i.e. Anil Ambani's company hugely benefit from the Rafale deal when benefit should go only to the government's HAL. BJP preaching anti corruption sounds like a big joke.

Appreciate a son's concern to father, but if these scoundrals had some self respect they would have resigned their seat from respective legislature. Why did Modi attack, Kharge, having been a RailwayMinister he could not complete a vital link of railway line in his constituency for 16 years not because there was no funds or land acquistion problem. The only reason was foundation stone was laid during NDA rule under Vajapayee. They did not want the credit to go to NDA. This new line was inuagrated by Modi last year.Due to this the distance between Delhi and Bangalore was reduced by 350km. What do you say for the behavior such rogue MPs and MLAs

Till the time congress dependent on Ghandi family they will continue to be in receiving end. Sooner they find replacement and move away from this family will have better future for the party. Otherwise Modi era will continue because opposition is very weak today. Weak opposition in democracy is not healthy for the countries progress.

Deepak, Many of the commentators here were not born before 60 years. They have practically no idea as to how people were living in Thatched houses during 1950s when I was a child. We is to walk to some kms to School without having even one pair of slippers. Very few people had to travel by Bycycles. In our village no one had a Car. I still remember that we some boys used to go to Karkala to attend the St. Lawrance feast by Bullock Carts. But today I see in my village big houses, Shoe racks with matching foot wears, almost every house have two wheelers, latest SUVs, & many more. This all happened during a span of 60 years. And sadly some commentators here question what we achieved during these 70 years?

What development you are of talking about? Farmers doing suicides, educated people having no jobs, court cases pending years to years ,pollution in the cities etc.If there was development what was the need of reservation, annabagya, amma canteens etc., ration etc. Only 20% of population of India have the riches what you are mentioning about and these 20% people are enjoying the natures gift like petrol, electricity, food ,education etc., where these should have been shared by all.If there was development why our children going outside the country for jobs leaving their parents? Even in the cities except few metros there is no 24 hrs electricity (in villages hardly there will be electricity),no cleanliness, no proper drinking water/sewage disposal,no proper roads with pedestrian/cycle paths, lack of good schools/hospitals etc. No planned developments.Politician and their chamchas including corrupt bureaucrats, judges have become super rich for example Just find out the Kharge families movable and non movable property details. If these two parties BJP and congress rule India for another seventy years there will not be any development .Only communal disturbances and killings of innocent people. Honest ,hard working people will be the most sufferers.

Still behaves as if he is in opposition! Why has he taken up the mantle? Just to blame the past? What is his contribution?
I was really shocked to read his statement that Congress was reason for partition!
By saying so, ignorantly he exposed that, his own party men and veterans did nothing for freedom struggle and did nothing to prevent partition!!
It's different matter, if partition had not taken place, whether there would have been more peace or total internal turmoil and blood bath as in Syria due to hateful speeches of these kind of leaders.
