Bengaluru, Feb 3: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad sought to put the Siddaramaiah government, which is getting ready to face its last legislature session before the ensuing State Assembly polls from Monday onwards, on notice that would not allow the government to table legislations in the last hour to get their smooth passage.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Saturday, he said: "As a matter of fact, any legilsation should be tabled in the beginning of the session and tabling them in the last hour, is not a healthy tradition of legislature."

Koliwad said that he would communicate his stand to the government in the Business Advisory Committee meeting to be held before the commencement of this session.

"Tabling the Bills in the beginning of the session would facilitate members to discuss their pros and cons effectively," Koliwad said.

Members cutting across party lines have expressed their discontentment over the attitude of the government to table Bills of crucial importance in the last hour and have appealed to the Speaker cautioning the government to amend its attitude.

Stating that, he was satisfied with the way of conducting Assembly from the past twenty months, after taking over as Speaker, Koliwad said that the State Government had to take steps to implement the recommendations of the Committees formed to address various pressing issues.

Further, he has asked the government to implement the recommendations made House Committees on various issues.

The Speaker said that he did not have any information on steps taken by the Government to implement reports submitted by House Committees.

He did not forget to express his discontentment over legislature not presenting in the house and take active participation in the debates on crucial issues pertained to people.
