Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 2: In a barbaric incident reported from within the limits of Nelamangala rural police station limits, which became public knowledge with inordinate delay, a person was killed by two minors for demanding payment of rent due. In this case, owner of a godown was killed by the persons who had hired the godown, for seeking payment of rent due, by slicing his throat and separating his head from the torso.

K Manjunath alias R X Manja alias Jack (37), resident of Rayanagara near Kunigal circle in Nelamangala town, was murdered in this inhuman way. The police have taken into custody two minors, aged 15 and 16, relating to the murder. They are being subjected to intense questioning.

The head of the murdered man was found in a godown located near Kampanganahalli village. Police collected information that the torso of the victim was lodged in a drain in Dubasipalya near Kengeri in the city.

Manjunath, a local, was engaged in small scale financing an real estate business. He lived with wife and three brothers at Rayanagara. He has left behind a ten-month old girl child.

It is learnt that Manjunath had built a godown in his land, which was hired to the two teenagers. As the duo had not paid rent for the godown since the last some months, he had a verbal duel with the two. At the end, the two boys attacked Manjunath in a violent manner. Thereafter, out of fear of facing backlash from Manjunath's brothers and friends, the two minors killed Manjunath on January 23 by cutting his throat.

The family members then lodged police complaint in rural police station about Manjunath going missing. The police, who got clues about what happened during their investigation, questioned several people. As the accused had confessed to their parents about what they had done out of fear, the case came to light.

Manjunath's severed head, which had been concealed about five feet below the earth at M D Ali Packers godown was retrieved on Thursday February 1 morning in the presence of subdivisional officer, Mahesh Babu. It was taken over by the police. The police conducted search with the help of firemen for the torso of Manjunath at various places including drains in Kengeri area but did not succeed in finding out any body part so far, the police revealed.

The incident has spread a sense of fear in the entire Nelamangala taluk. Contingents of district armed reserve police and state armed police have been deployed in Nelamangala town and various strategic places. A case has been registered in rural police station.
