Work starts for gas pipeline in Panaji

Panaji, Jan 25 (TOI): After receiving approval from the Corporation of the City of Panaji, Goa Natural Gas Pvt Ltd has commenced work to lay the underground gas polyethylene piping system to provide piped gas to individual homes in the state capital. However, any hopes of immediate supply of piped gas have been dashed since the PWD has yet to give the approval to lay the main polyethylene high strength carbon steel supply pipeline from Ponda to Panaji.

Goa Natural Gas recently received permission to lay the piped gas network along three stretches, including the Miramar-Dona Paula circle road and the Tonca-Caranzalem road to Dona Paula.

Chief executive officer of Goa Natural Gas, K K Sachdeva, said, "The first phase is expected to be complete by February. We have yet to get permission for roads that fall under PWD and panchayat jurisdiction."
