Mangaluru, Jan 24: Mangaluru city police commissioner T R Suresh has been chosen for the prestigious President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
The President's Medal is awarded annually on Republic Day and Independence Day to individuals in the police service or in the central police and security organizations.
T R Suresh, a native of Shivamogga, is an IPS officer who holds an MBA degree too.
Before being transferred to Mangaluru, he served in Vijaypura, Bagalkot, Uttar Kannada, Hubballi and Dharwad, and as DCP (law and order) in Mysuru, Lokayukta department in Tumakuru, additional SP in Belagavi, as SP in Kodagu, Bagalkot, Raichur and Tumakuru, DCP Bengaluru (north east), DCP (north) in Bengaluru and as DIG of fire services, Bengaluru
With vast experience in the police field, T R Suresh is an able officer who has successfully managed to reign in criminal activities like drug peddling. Under his baton, the city has remained peaceful despite attempts by some elements to disrupt harmony in the recent past.
He was also instrumental in forming anti-rowdy squads in the city that are actively controlling crime in the district.
Also, head constable of Panambur police station Kamalaksha has been chosen for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
