Mangaluru, Jan 23: Union minister for human resource development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday January 23 expressed confidence that BJP would win all the eight Assembly seats in Dakshina Kannada district in the upcoming state elections, and that Congress would 'vanish'.
Addressing a press meet during his visit to the city, Javadekar said, "BJP will dominate the forthcoming Assembly elections by winning all the 8 constituencies in Dakshina Kannada district. Congress will vanish and BJP will come back to power in the state.
"The upcoming state election has become a national election because Karnataka is the lone state that is in the hands of the Congress. If you look at the country, BJP is dominating everywhere and Congress is nowhere. We will definitely win more than 150 seats in the state. Congress is known for corruption, while BJP is known for development.
"This is not an election between two parties but between two political cultures. Congress culture is about following the policy of divide and rule. They (Congress) looted the state for five years and spent only for five months. BJP's culture is dedication, determination, discipline and hard work. A man who was selling tea has become the Prime Minister and a Dalit leader has become the President of our country - this can happen only in BJP and not in Congress. Our country will become the fastest growing economic power in 2018-19," he said.
Attacking the Congress further, he said, "What chief minister Siddarammaih is doing is divide and rule just to win the elections. In four years, more than 15 Hindu activists were murdered. Five murders have taken place in 28 days in this district. There was a double murder in jail. Gauri Lankesh and Prof Kalburgi were murdered but there has been no proper investigation to nab the culprits.
"ABVP activist was murdered in Kerala and four SDPI activists were detained in the case, but here the government is building political alliance with these terror organizations," he alleged.
"Ministers are seen roaming with criminals, and Hindu girls are missing. When Kabir died in an encounter, his family was given compensation of Rs 10 lac, but when a Hindu activist died not a single rupee was given to his kin. This is nothing but communal politics and vote bank politics.
"Honest officers are being frequently transferred. No one has seen such an arrogant, dozing chief minister," he added.
He also alleged that the bandh called over the Mahadayi issue had beed deliberately rescheduled to interfere with BJP president Amit Shah's visit to the state on January 25. "The bandh which was supposed to be held on January 27 has been advanced to January 25. This is nothing but to stop Amit Shah's visit to Mysuru on January 25. This is how you (Congress) play politics. We believe in people's power. We want democratic elections but Congress is engaging in politics of violence."
