Mangaluru: Inter-parish 'Quest 2k18' held at St Dominic church

Mangaluru, Jan 23: It was a memorable day in the history of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Ashoknagar unit, as they organized the inter-parish 'Quest 2k18' (Treasure Hunt) at St Dominic Church, Ashoknagar. The registration for the event was opened at 2.45 pm and closed at 4.10 pm.

The programme was inaugurated at 4.15 pm by Fr Aquin Noronha, parish priest of St Dominic church along with Fr Praveen Monteiro, the pastoral council vice-president and secretary. Releasing of balloons and ceremonial waving of the flag marked the opening of the event.



Jokshith D'Souza, president and treasurer, ICYM Ashokngar unit, announced the rules for the competition. Clues were handed over to the contestants by Rupel Gonsalves. The contestants were asked to report to the counter of 'Quest 2k18' by 7.15 pm.

There were mini fancy fete stalls offering a variety of food and also games for the public. Stage programme with live band and dance performances kept the crowd entertained throughout the event.

Mohiuddin Bava, member of legislative assembly (MLA), Mangaluru city north constituency, presided over the function at 5.40 pm and delivered his address to the gathering. He also mingled and chatted with the youth before leaving the venue.

Fr Ronald Dsouza, director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, graced the occasion along with Frenton Irol D'Souza, president, ICYM Episcopal City Deanery.

J R Lobo, MLA, presided over the function at 7.30 pm. In his motivational address, he asked the youth to take more interest in taking up government jobs and also to concentrate on the cleanliness of small accessible areas around them, if not the entire world.

The formal valedictory function, which started at 8.15 pm, was presided over by chief guest Fr Ronald Dsouza.

Guest of honour, Frenton Irol D'Souza, director ICYM, Fr Aquin Noronha, Fr Praveen Monteiro, Richard Gonsalves, vice-president, church pastoral council, Jokshith Dsouza, president, ICYM Ashoknagar and Vinol Pinto, secretary were present on the dais.

The result of Quest 2k18 was announced at the end of the stage function. The champions of the Quest 2K18 were 'The Angelore team'. Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the winners of other prizes by the dignitaries. The programme ended at 9 pm.
