Mangaluru: Donate for a cause - Johnlyn Toy Exchange & Book Bank to be launched on Jan 27

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 22: Dr Ravichandran, founder, CEO of Diya Systems with its development center hosting over 1,000 IT professionals in the city will launch the Johnlyn Toy Exchange & Book Bank on January 27, informed veteran journalist and writer John B Monteiro.

The Johnlyn Toy Exchange & Book Bank is promoted by John B Monteiro at his residential complex, Johnlyn Cottage, Bondel.

Dr Ravichandran who will launch the project as chief guest will be joined by guests of honour Vathika Pai, president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld.

Addressing media, John B Monteiro said, “Johnlyn Toy Exchange & Book Bank is envisioned and initiated with support from a large band of well-wishers aims to collect toys from households that mothball the toys of their grown up children. Such hoarded toys present a housekeeping problem in congested flats and yet, for sentimental reasons, they are not consigned to garbage bins. This equally applies to already-read and stored nooks – both for children and adults.

“Johnlyn Toy Exchange & Book Bank will collect such toys and books and present them to children in orphanages in the city to keep them for good. Books for adults will be loaned out, without any deposit or user fee, for return within a fortnight. The Toy Exchange & Book Bank solicits support in delivering the toys and book at Johnlyn Cottage, Vijaya Bank lane, Bondel junction, during working hours though out the week, while the book for borrowers will function between 9 am and 12 pm and 3 pm and 6 pm on all Sundays and public holidays. Larger quantities and parcels from outstation senders will be collected,” he added.

Titus Norohna, and William Pais were present.

Prospective volunteers can contact John B Monteiro on (9886276608) for specifics on how they can help.

Mother Theresa said "Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest to you". Mr. John Monteiro's new project is going to help the needy. The joy of the little one who gets a toy will be the return gift to Mr. Monteiro. "Giving is not about making a donation, its about making a difference" quoted Kathy Calvin CEO of UN Foundation. Likewise all donors of toys and books will make a difference. Please continue the good work sir. We are with you.
