Bengaluru: Speeding African student tears police constable's uniform

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jan 20: A student from Congo allegedly assaulted two police constables and tore the uniform of one of them after she and her friend had argument with the police personnel for speed driving.

The incident took place at HBR Layout in Banaswadi here on Monday but came to light only on Friday.

As per details available, Kilambo Nzeba (24) and Kalau Mujinga (22), undergraduate students at a city college, were driving in a rash and negligent manner behind Forest Road around 4.30 pm on Monday. Police constables Anand Shirola and Basavaraj Tonape set out on a motorbike in search of the students after they received alert from the police control room.

The constables saw the speeding car and tried to stop it. But Mujinga, who was driving the car lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into the police motorbike. The policemen confronted the students and asked them to get off the car.

The students who came out from the car got into an argument with the policemen. At this moment, the girl roughed up Shirola and tore his uniform. The policemen alerted the Hoysala patrol team which rushed to the spot and detained both the students.

The Congolese students were booked for rash and negligent driving, and for assaulting a public servant.

The court later sent them into judicial custody. Shirola and Tonape are recovering at a hospital, the officer added.

This is not a new incident. it is unfortunate that African students continue to be a nuisance. Particularly in the area of kothanur where they are concentrated due to the number of so called colleges that have mushroomed since 2008. Such people overstay their travel visas and become a serious law n order problem by indulging in drugs, vehicle theft and prostitution.. The police are completely justified in their action against such elements..

If it had happened here she wouldn't have got a chance to raise her hand. Also one of the cop would have been standing at a distance with his finger on the trigger while the other checking for drugs. Here people have to be very patient while dealing with the cops while on patrol as a slight mistake can ruin the whole thing.

    This is very serious issue.
However, Indian police themselves responsible to a certain extend for this.
Most important is self respect. Demanding for bribes makes all to belittle them.
Telling them to shoot at the attacker, do the traffic police have a gun ?

It is so easy to become. judgemental and declare the accused guilty. How does one know if the student tore the policeman's uniform? No matter what, one should investigate the case thoroughly and find out who is guilty and then only pass the judgement . That is the difference between a civillized court and kangaroo court, fellows!

Because of BJP ways of dealing with police people (eg. Kateel shouting at police officer which got circulated in the media), even foreigners also doesn't respect our police. How dare a foreigner can do to our police? We Indian always respect police of that country, else they will deport us. Who want to go back there!

Amar I agree with you 100%. We Indians always champions to blame others but when we india ns do such things in other nations like in west and cope punishes we use a card of discrimination and hungry to get the govt compensations. Sad but it is true of our nature to blame without knowing the facts. Fake cases on innocent can make a victims of honest people. Anything is possible. When I look a picture on this article something is not right. It is not the women created this but something must have happend for them to do this act.

Law and order issues connected to. Curptions. Over populated city with heavy traffic wherr people sit in traffic hours get frustrated and police harrassmet for breaking traffic rules make further issues cause such issue. It is not fair to punish those student and the same time what they did to cope is fair either. Learning from this issue and find what has caused such issue and managing for future training for police force to prevent such happening. Punishment is not always solutions rather finding the cause of issues.
