Valley, Ladakh shiver as Jammu warms up


Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 20 (IANS): Minimum temperatures throughout the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region remained below freezing point on Saturday even as the days started getting comparatively warmer in the Jammu region.

The night temperatures in Jammu though continued to remain cold, the Met said.

The minimum temperature was 5.4 degrees Celsius in Jammu city while it was 8.2 in Katra, 5.8 in Batote, 4.1 in Banihal, 2.4 in Bhaderwah and 0.9 in Udhampur.

Temperatures in the valley have fallen further as the cold wave continued unabated.

Srinagar city recorded minus 4.3, Pahalgam minus 6.3 and Gulmarg minus 5.5 degrees Celsius.

The Ladakh region remained in deep freeze on Saturday with Kargil recording minus 19.6 and Leh 13.5 as the minimum temperatures.
