Mangaluru: Harikrishna Bantwal joined BJP only to attack Ramanath Rai, says Congress

Mangaluru, Jan 19: The district Congress on Friday January 19 hit back at BJP spokesperson Harikrishna Bantwal for criticising district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai at a recent press meet over the issue of use of Koti-Chennaya image in BJP's banner at a programme in Puttur.

Addressing a press meet here, Congress spokesperson A C Vinayraj said, "Harikrishna Bantwal has made a habit of levelling fake allegations to defame Ramanath Rai.

"He claimed that during the chief minister’s visit to Bantwal to inaugurate Sri Narayana Guru Jnana Mandir, it was noticed that the CM’s image was put up in the banner along with the image of Sri Narayana Guru. Harikrishna Bantwal needs to know that organizers invited Siddaramaiah to inaugurate the Jnana Mandir and they themselves put his picture in the banner along with that of Sri Narayana Guru. Harikrishna Bantwal should tell the people of the Billawa community whose image should have been used in the banner during the programme.

"During the inauguration of Jnana Mandir, Harikrishna Bantwal had delivered the introductory speech and was seen praising Siddaramaiah for his works. But he has made a habit of making fake allegations just for publicity and to defame Ramanath Rai. This is not a constructive but cheap politics. BJP had justified using Koti-Chennaya image during their political meeting at Puttur. Harikrishna Bantwal should have raised his voice over the issue as it was a matter of respect for his community," he said.

"They (BJP) are aware that Congress does not use god's or deity's image in any political programme. Congress has always been known for good and development works. Harikrishna Bantwal is engaging in mudslinging with fake allegations to divert the minds of people. Ever since he joined the BJP, he has never spoken about development and is only criticizing Ramanath Rai. He has no moral right to do so. I will give Harikrishna Bantwal an open invitation to talk about development works. We are in the situation where we have development versus fake allegations. Harikrishna Bantwal has joined BJP just to attack Rai," he added.

    If Harikrishna Bantwal sole idea to join BJP is to corner Ramanath Rai, then it is unfortunate.

    Every body will get their due share, what they sowed. Whether it is Janadhana Poojary or Ramanth Rai or any other leaders.

    Only thing I am not with Harikrishna Bantwal is, he is talking about caste and billwa community, which is not at all, in the right direction. He has joined a national party not a caste based party.

    Pls note I had visited Mangalore recently and was speaking generally with people from all walks of life. I had got a chance to visit Bantwal, Kadaba, Farigepete etc etc. The ground reality is very different. People are fed up with some Politicians like Ramanath Rai. There might be many reasons like indifferent attitude, not easily reachable etc etc. I was very happy with the KSRTC bus stand in Bantwal which was person initiation by Ramanath Rai. I was also angry when seeing the flyover in Bantwal. I want to know who was the engineer. Also I lost my temper when I see the toll near bantwal which I think they are collecting from past 20 yrs. No comments on this. double track work was going on. When I met some people they were all saying that this time Congress will not win etc etc. Ramanath Rai will lose in a big way. The main issue as a whole is that Politicians have kept different communities like cat on the wall. People are saying Congress doesn't support one community when there are issues. Also people are angry with recent statement from Ramanath Rai that muslims have helped him to be the MLA. I feel this was not required from a mature Politician. This has angered not only from the Hindu Community but also Christian community have not gone good with what he has told. Anyhow I came across many youths who are unemployed and no Politician are fighting for getting employment or guiding them to get jobs in Govt institutions, Pvt Sector etc etc. I feel more than Communal issues Youths are unemployed and if we fight for jobs then we can make a big difference. Harikrishna Bantwal is a smart cat. I Doubt he will get a BJP seat. Also one more thing I want to tell is that Hariskrishna Bantwal was a congress leader but Ramanath Rai didn't give him due credit because he was Janaradhan Poojary right hand. Everybody knows that Ramanath Rai and Jaranardhan Poojary are not in good terms. Anyhow Congress stronghold of Bantwal will be shaken in the coming elections.

    Good he joined BJP. Congress is going to be in history books in next GE. Ab Ke baar BJP Sarkar.
    Siddu is still struggling to find a constituency to file his nomination. Is not the sympton that Congress is on the verge of collapse. Rai, what has he done to the state an control crime in DK other than Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepe. Mr. Lobo should be next home minister if Congress still gain control in Karnataka.
