Ahmedabad, Jul 26: Terror struck Ahmedabad when 16 coordinated serial blasts ripped across the city on Saturday night killing 20 people and injuring 100 sending a wave of panic, a day after multiple explosions rocked Bangalore in another BJP-ruled state.

The synchronised "low-intensity" explosions rocked the Gujarat capital in a space of 90 minutes in the eastern and western areas after the first blast hit Maninagar at 6.45 pm occured in 14 places.

There were two blasts each in Maninagar--the constituency of Chief Minister Narendra Modi--and in Sarkej targetting a state transport CNG bus and Sangam theatre.

Significantly, two blasts occured in the premises of Civil and LG hospitals where several victims of the explosions in other areas were rushed. A nationwide alert has been sounded.

"The blasts were of low intensity and similar to those which hit Bangalore," Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal told reporters in Kanpur.

Mangled remains of a bus, cycles, motorcycles and an autorickshaw were seen at the blast sites which was splattered with blood and panic spread as people ran for their lives.

Police said at least 20 persons were killed and the deaths were reported from Vadilal Sarabhai, Civil and LG hospitals.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has convened a high level meeting tomorrow morning to review the security situation throughout the country.

Modi condemned the blasts and appealed for calm. His party leader and MP from Gandhinagar L K Advani blamed the Centre and the lack of tough anti-terror laws for the rise in terror activities but would not draw conclusions about two BJP-ruled states-Gujarat and Karnataka--being specifically targeted.

Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta said in New Delhi that National Security Guards(NSG) personnel were being rushed to Ahmedabad where Rapid Action Force(RAF) personnel were already deployed to restore calm in the blast-hit areas some of which are highly sensitive.

The other areas where the blasts occurred at Maninagar, Isanpur, Narol circle, Bapunagar, Hatkeshwar, Sarangpur bridge, Sarkhej, Odhav, Sardar Patel market, Civil hospital, Juhapura, Ambur tower building and Raipur.

The Ahmedabad blasts came a day after the multiple explosions in Bangalore in which two persons were killed.

Police said 35 injured persons were rushed to Vadilal Sarabhai hospital while 25 injured were receiving treatment in LG hospital. Some injured were also in the Civil hospital.

Some of the bombs were placed in tiffin boxes strapped to cycles eerily similar to the Jaipur blasts on May 13 in which 65 persons died.

Television channels claimed they got an e-mail from little known outfit called 'Indian Mujahideen' to say they were responsible for today's blasts. The same outfit had claimed responsibility for the blasts in Jaipur and Uttar Pradesh.

President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the blasts and appealed for calm.

The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the Ahmedabad serial blasts and announced ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the dead and Rs 50,000 to injured.

One state government CNG bus in which one of the blasts occured was ripped through the middle.

The outer body of the bus was completely smashed while surprisingly most of the seats remained intact including the CNG tank.

Blood was seen splattered inside the bus and near the foot board.

The scene outside the civil hospital was tense with people thronging the place even as ambulances with sirens were seen driving right between them.

"There is heavy traffic jams in areas around Mani Nagar, the CM's constituency where one of the blasts took place Number of ambulances are also seen zipping around," said Udit, a city resident.

Forensic personnel were also rushed to the blast scenes.

With the Indian politics at its peak of blame game, I was surprised to see not a single comment by Mr. Modi or BJP claiming the UPA/Congress is behind these blasts or atleast they should claim responsibility. Well atleast Mr. Modi is quiet due to his incapabilities.

Some of the arguments here are in bad taste. These two attacks and many other attacks and subsequent unsolved cases all means India attacked but terrorists are growing strong by the day. Mudslinging on BJP does not help.

These attacks and arguments by some in the column only pushes so called middle path guys to the extremists' arms (regardless of Muslim or Hindu). At such sensitive moment, people must guage the situation properly when they recklessly argue.

This is not politics anymore as anyone of us may be in the area where the next bomb would be planted. You won't have time to even reason out the best possible explanation then. The best possible way forward is to unite against this menace called terrorism and actually find ways to attack the enemy and solve this problem once and for all.

Many of the people are giving filmy type ideas and comments by sitting outside India. They are not having proper knowledge about the efforts of the police department and state governments. One person has mentioned that "some big guys (influentials in the Indian politics) have targeted some innocent Engineers/Doctors/cream of the society whom they shall arrest in connection to these blasts and close the file and implement new rules to make sure that the Indian Minorities never get educated".

Does he involved in the investigation? Does he know the fact? For the people its very easy to put blame on the police department. People should think properly...Its not a joke...

This has nothing to do with Pakistan or Bangladesh or Indian Muslims but has to do with the idealogy they follow. A prominent author Mr. Ali Sina has laid down the reasons for these dastardly, inhuman, brutal act of these satans and terrorists in his website.

People are so foolish that they think it is politics and misguided youths carry out this carnage but I say they dont know the real reasons. If you want to know the truth then read what Ali Sina says.

My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. 1.Mr. Siva, Was it a Ram Mandir? Do you think any Hindu or for that matter anybody from other religions will bring down their own religious structure just for the heck of it? You would know that when there is a dispute between two communities over a religious structure, administration bans any form of worship there.

But in the case of Ayodhya, the ASI even dug up the place to find out what existed at the site whether Masjid or Temple, but report never made public. 2. Yes, no karsevak was killed while pulling down the structure because there was nobody to challenge them. But you conveniently forgot the aftermath ofthe demolition. Where did you live on Dec 6, 1992 thru March 1993. Mr. Siva, ask any Mumbaikar what happened between Dec 6-9 and in March 1993. 3.

As a CM, isn’t it Mr. Modi’s duty to arrest perpetrators of Godhra train incident, maintain law and order and protect the citizens? How can police remain mute spectators? Going by your logic of Gujarat roits was an instant reaction for Godhra train incident and you justifying it, then you should also justify Sikh riots, it was reaction to Indira Gandhi’s killings, 1993 bomb blasts and all other bomb blasts that occurred as reaction to Babri Masjid demolition and Gujarat riots.

I agree with Mr. Vivek Prabhu. Pre-1992 there was no animosity between people of different religions and there was peace in India (except J&K and some north eastern states that didn't want to be a part of India), and now there is no peace, no safety, only hatred. But none blames M/s. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharati for that.

I Pity on the terrorists (Politicians/ hatred mongers) who are using the same Old Pearl Harbor/Vietnam/9-11/Afghanistan/Iraq/Ghodra strategy to win the sympathy and sentiments of majority of public so that they can take advantage of the situation and implement new laws/incite hatred among people.

You might be aware of what happened in Pearl Harbor, it was not an attack of a big scale by the Japanese, US politicians exaggerated the issue and finally after few years what we saw was unthinkable (Nagasaki & Hiroshima bombs).

Same is the case with Vietnam, September 11 etc, US wanted Afghanistan they made a big story of 9/11 and won the sympathy of the world and just for the sake of 1 person (Osama) they attacked the whole country, Coming to Iraq-Same strategy was used to inform the world that they posses Nukes, but till date they failed to find 1. In Gujrat-again they created a story called Ghodra to incite hatred against the Muslims and attack them throughout the state in a planned manner.

I am sure some big guys (influentials in the Indian politics) have targeted some innocent Engineers/Doctors/cream of the society whom they shall arrest in connection to these blasts and close the file and implement new rules to make sure that the Indian Minorities never get educated.

    1. Babri structure was not pulled out. It was Ram Mandir that was pulled down - Muslims had stopped praying there 60 years earlier itself. their interest in the structure grew only after Ram Lalla idols came there.

    2. No one was killed while the structure was pulled down

    3. Modi did not instigate the killing of Muslims - Public did this as an instant reaction of what happened in Godhra. You know it but choosing to ignore it

    4. Last but most important. Don't use Goebbelian technique of repeating lies. You are doing the worst by inciting the terrorists minds - drilling even more in to the minds of innocent Muslim youth that whatever they are doing is justified. Another horrible day has witnessed by taking the lives of innocents in Ahamedabad. It is very hurting scene where injured lying in hospitals with blood covered bodies and wounds. It is high time for all Indians to unite and fight those evil forces who are dreaming in finding a solution through the killings of precious human lives.

People from the all the spectrum of life should voice against cruel attacks and our political, religious and socio – economical differences should be put into back burner, and move forward with great conviction to fight against enemies of humanity.

State Government’s failure in taking precautions even after the warning from the Centre Intelligence agency is questionable. It is not an issue which party is ruling the particular state where terror struck. The important matter is how to protect the country from the predetermined conspiracy which is subjugating our strength.

All previous attacks have had ended with inconclusive result and creating a doubt in the minds of people. Let us extend our hands to protect our great nation.

It is very clear that the intentions of these attacks is not to kill as many people as possible , but to manipulate the minds of majority of our illeterate indians so as to generate hatred against a particular community. Terrorists have no religion. They only implement the orders given to them by devil.

Dear Noel, If we too do the same as the brainless terrorists, what is the difference between animals and civilians?? Who is fooling who?? Why not learned people educate their peers to be good world citizens, instead of making them terrorists. Why can't people teach harmony, peace and brotherly feelings?? Now whoever has done these things what they achieved?? Are they get indulgences to go to heaven?? Is God blindly accepting their superiority over Gods will?? Mahatma Gandhi rightly said, if someone slaps on on your right cheek, show him the left too.

Dear Terrorists, please see your sistes or brothers are dying in the pool of blood. Why are you after the innocent blood?? God created this universe beautiful and why are we destroying it?? Just place yourself in the dying woman, dying man, who would have left his/her small child. She/he would have gone to bring food for his/her hungry children. May be they are waiting for their mother/father. Why have you destroyed this beautiful world?? Why did you diprive the warmth to the innocent children?? Their blood is calling you and asking for help. Remove this cruelty from your hearts and spread the aroma of love. Win people by spreading the message of love.

Serial blasts in Mumbai, Bangalore and now Ahmedabad appear to have been a planned and highly co-ordinated attack. Extensive search operations by the Military and security inteligence should be carried out quickly to nab the culprits and wipe out those terrorist groups forever.

It has been expected such a incidence for the last few years in Gujarat. Advani and Modi are the main responsible persons for all happening in our country. Advani started violence by demolishing Babri Masjid and later Modi started killing thousands of Muslims in Gujarat. They must know that those who killed and raped in front of their kith and kin are still alive , they were waiting for revenge.

Ultimately the innocents are killed. The leaders are surrounded with security inside their Bunglows. Secondly we can't rule out this blast is politically motivated, Madurai blast is proved that RSS was behind. This twin serial blasts may be planned by SIMI, LTTE, LeT or RSS. The President must interefere and order CBI investigation into these two blasts. All Indians, Hindus, Muslims , sikhs and Christians must stand as one Indian to fight against these terrorism. Jai Hind

Is it related with election or political party as both incidents happened after the govement election.but who ever in politics they are safe but you are killing poor &innocent people.  Do not do that please if you are getting the bribe to do that please give to poor and die yourself. Why can not you hang yourself instead killing others. if you are thirsty cut your arm and drink your own blood.we are all cursing you guys.  It is better to have military rule this.....Shameless politics and politicians of our country.

I am really sorry for those who died & injured during today's & yesterdays bomb blast & my sincere condolence to their families. As of now let us all work together firstly drag out & hang those who are responsible for these, like for e.g: how can an illegal bangladishi & pakistani can get indian passport / ration-card & voter id. Who is issuing these to them. It is our own muncipal corp. offices, passport officers & election commission officers.

So first we kill these by hanging them publicly. Secondly if sincerely we investigate, I bet you definitely there is no sincere political will, for e.g during the time of Kandahar Indian Airlines hijack, MR. LAL KRISHNA ADVANI, (now dreaming to become PM), that time dy. PM & home minister, who ordered to release Azhar Masood (Jaish-E-Mohammed chief) from jail & handed over to hijackers. We need these politicians now??? Another live expample, why we are keeping Afzal Guru in jail, main conspirent of Pariament attack? What is happening? UPA & congress must hang this guy at any cost. Why can't we as public to hang & kill all of these cancers of our nation. Can we can work like daring Israel. How they deal with Palastines? If they kill 2 in Israel, 4 Palastines will be killed by Israel. Yes we can also do the same here, let us start revolution thru general public. Where are those Bangadeshis who arrested recently in Jaipur blast case? How Tiger Memon (Mumbai blast) got his passport within 48 hours!!!. Nobody knows?

There are how many illegal Bagladeshis & Pakistani's staying in India? So It is 100% inside our own people giving them money/logistc support & selling themselves for money by issuing ration-card, voter ID, passports then we can't blame outsiders. Finally to stop all these in our country it is now every Indian citizens duty to counter these. If we saw any outsider (bangladeshi/pakistani) staying we need to eliminate them without any further inquiry. So please my dear friends, let us do some revolutionaly work.
