Mangaluru: Police bust ganja trafficking racket - arrest two

Mangaluru, Jan 18: The anti rowdy squad personnel raided a spot in Nettilapadavu on Karnataka-Kerala border and found a ganja trafficking racket functioning from there. They arrested Muhammed Azeez alias Abdul Azeez (34) from Taudogoli, Naringana illage and Imtiaz (26) from Talapady Mullugudde.

10.250 kg ganja and scooter used for the trade were confiscated. Total value of the seized items has been put at Rs 1.6 lac.

After the assistant police commissioner of southern subdivision got information about ganja racket on Wednesday, the staff of the squad along with Konaje police inspector, conducted an operation and took into custody the accused who were moving around on an Activa scooter and selling ganja.

Muhammed Azeez, it is said, is involved in sale of ganja and faces several cases for similar crime in Ullal, Konaje and other stations. Imtiaz has several cases at Ullal station. The anti rowdy squad led by the assistant commissioner of police had got involved in the operation.
