Mangaluru: Anti-rowdy squad busts drug racket on Karnataka-Kerala border, seizes 10 kg ganja

Mangaluru, Jan 17: The Mangaluru South anti-rowdy squad on Wednesday January 17 busted a major drug racket on Karnataka-Kerala border and seized over 10 kg of ganja. However, the culprits managed to escape.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Azeez alias Abdul Azeez (34), a resident of Bantwal, and Mohammed Imthiyaz (26) of Talapady.

Based on credible information that Azeez and Imthiyaz were going around in their Activa at Nettila Padavu on Kerala border, the Mangaluru South anti-rowdy squad along with Konaje police conducted inspection of the spot and found 10.25 kg of ganja and a scooter (KA-19-1625) at Kallarakodi. The accused who were there sell ganja off to customers saw the police and took to their heels. They ran down a hill and managed to escape.

The police consfiscated the ganja and the scooter. The value of the seized ganja is estimated at Rs 1.60 lac.

Among the accused, Azeez is a habitual ganja peddler and faces several cases in Konaje and other police stations. Imthiyaz is also a frequent offender and is accused in several cases in Ullal and other police stations.

    This is the biggest issue in DK which is causing religious unrest in Karnataka. All these culprits need to be punished according to law. State home ministry & ruling party should come up with concrete rule and regulations.
