Mangaluru, Jan 14: The police have arrested two more accused in connection to the murder of Basheer at Kottara Chowki.

Lateesh (24), a resident of Mogral, Kasargod, and Pushparaj (23) of Vidyanagar, Kasargod, were arrested by the CCB police on Sunday January 14.

Basheer was brutally assaulted by a group at Kottara Chowki on the night of January 3 just as he was closing his fast food restaurant. He passed away four days later. The police who have already arrested four accused in the case said that he was attacked in retaliation to the murder of Deepak Rao in Katipalla the same afternoon.

The police earlier arrested Shreejith, Kishan Poojary, Dhanush Poojary and Sandesh Kotian in the case. During interrogation, it came to light that others too were involved in the crime. Acting on the information, the police arrested Lateesh and Pushparaj.

Both have been handed over to Kavoor police for further investigation.

CCB inspector Shantharam, PSI Shyamsunder and other police personnel were part of the arrest operation.

Jossey Saldanha, Mumbai . So when Deepak was first murdered, who did you think it was? Let law take its own impartial course. We all know who got killed first and who started it first as always. Let us start a new blame game here.

Hope they come out of jail before the elections. Experience will be added value for more trouble before the Karnataka ballot takes place.

Now that the culprits are caught, the authorities should see to it that there will be no political interference in the investigation. When this type of killings happen, it is very common to expect such things that would jeopardize the investigation and the culprits are released without any "solid proof" as even the witnesses cannot come forward because of fear. It's good to note that the murder was caught in CCTV camera which is a solid proof to nail the wrongdoers. Let's just hope that the culprits are brought to book and the bereaved family of Bashir will get justice.
