Belagavi: Senior journalist Dr Veeresh Hiremath killed in accident, wife serious

Belagavi, Jan 14: In a tragic road accident which happened near Nandagad in the district, senior journalist, Dr Veeresh Hiremath (36), lost his life. His wife, Gouri, and car driver, Sunil, suffered grievous injuries in the accident.

Veeresh was currently serving as faculty in the department of journalism, BVV Collge, Bagalkot.

Hiremath had toured Goa in the company of his family. He was a native of Hosuri in Badami. He was returning to Bagalkot when the car hit a roadside tree. The mortal remains of the deceased have been preserved at the Dharwad civil hospital.

Dr Hiremath had served as lecturer in the department of mass communication and journalism at SDM college Ujire between 2013 and 2015. He also had served Suvarna TV, Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Vijayavaani, and RM Rainbow radio as RJ. In addition, he had served Vishwavani Kannada newspaper in the capacity of reporter at Bagalkot. He had started publishing his own Kannada news weekly, 'Oduga Dore' from Bagalkot. He had completed his doctorate in journalism from Mysore University two years back.

A case stands filed in Nandagad police station relating to this accident.
