Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 9: A J Hospital & Research Centre is a major referral centre in the city and the surrounding districts. A J Hospital has performed complex cardio thoracic and vascular surgeries with excellent results.

The hospital has achieved many a milestone by conducting various rare surgeries and procedures.

Minimal access surgery is the recent trend in cardio thoracic surgery. The A J Hospital team has also started conducting minimal access in all spheres of cardio thoracic surgery. A series of cases were performed in congenital, adult cardiac and thoracic surgeries.

A 35 year old labourer from Karwar underwent minimal access surgery where his coronary blocks were bypassed.

A 17 year old girl with a hole in the heart (ASD) underwent successful minimal access surgery.

Apart from these thoracic cases VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopy) are routinely being done in appropriate cases.

These type of surgeries help patients recover faster, are less painful and can be fast-tracked with invisible scars (cosmetic) without compromise in the quality of work.

The team includes Dr JayaShankar Marla, Dr Gourav Shetty, Dr Sambhram Shetty and cardiac anasthetist Dr Gururaj Thanthry.
