Mangaluru: Clash erupts between two groups in jail, several including cops injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 8: The atmosphere of unrest in the city outskirts on Monday January 8 entered the jail premises too as clashes erupted between two groups belonging to different communities.

In a fit of anger, the two groups of jail inmates vandalised the premises, breaking things with tubelights, window frames, stones and rods.

Several persons including a number of police personnel were injured in the incident.

The exact reason for the clash is not yet known. However, sources said that when the inmates were let out from their cells for tea, an argument arose between the two groups and resulted in the clashes.

A few of the injured persons were shifted to hospital by scooters. Among those admitted include one policeman.

Higher police officials rushed to the jail to take stock of the situation.

DCP Hanumantharaya, CCB inspector Shantharam, inspector Ravish Naik and others arrived at the jail. Security has been beefed up around the jail.

Mangaluru jail seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. There seems to be no end, to the problems being faced by it.

Hope we get to see some really 'smart' solution/s to the various problems plaguing it. One of the solutions could be, to close the jail and shift it (along with its inmates and officials) to a very remote place like Port Blair, situated in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Finally it's proved both clash inside the prison and murders in broad day light on city roads are caused by in-efficiency government administration of the ruling congress party. Let the prisoners clean one another inside the prison so that normal man live peacefully at home.

Its too much. Sometimes such instances of attacking policemen on duty have happened. And now it is in jail too. If police on duty are attacked take action as per goonda act. Why these aged policemen are drafted for duty to jails. As seen then, they are not able to do anything. depute some young policemen to control the situation in jail as they are very notorious culprits.

It is a serious offence to hit a Policeman - Public do not have any authority to hit any officer not even a constable.

I will not be surprised if the haw comes down heavily on the offending prisoners.

This is very reason British East India company has 'Kala Pani' in Andhama Nicobar.
In Andaman there Guruji wrote letter to serve his remaining life loyal to the British in exchange for release.
In Mangalore Guruji shishya know attacking the law enforcement officer to bring back the those golden days to subservient.
This kind of news are only known to Indian coming from Mexico. Now Mangalore starting with same English letter seems to be overtaking Mexico prisons.
Law enforcement officers should have shot them all and blamed cross fire of gang war killed all.
They lost the great opportunity to end the mess once for all.
If in the jail they are so emboldened, what about the common man if they released on bail?

Police should have atleast rubber bullet guns to shoot them whenever required.
It's a shame that they are taking injured persons on scooter. Don't they have vehicles ? What about 108 ambulance ?

Inside the jail also these criminals are having free run. It looks jail police also have been severely beaten.

Then what can happen outside? Several Murders. This is the situation of lawlessness in Mangalore.

This is not the first time happening in Mangalore jail. Several times this has happened.
Still not able to control. Highly Shameful.

    It is indeed.
Let the police allow the inmates and settle scores in side. Let us facilitate the society to clean itself.
But police should use their guns when they are attacked.
