Daijiworld Media Network – Sharjah

Sharjah, Jan 8: ‘What Next after 10th Std?’ a free Career Guidance will be held by Engineer and Motivational Speaker Dr Ananth G Prabhu on Thursday, January11 from 6 pm to 10 pm at Mini Hall, Indian Association, Sharjah.

Why career guidance?

Class X is a game changer in any student’s life. It is also the starting point of one’s career. It is this stage where the student takes up subjects of choice, prepares for courses after 12th and puts focused efforts for better career prospects in future.

It is often seen that students do not take the best decision and choose stream after Class X which is not suitable for them, mostly because they get influenced by external factors. There are many decisions that are to be taken at this stage:

- Which stream should I choose after 10th?
- Which course has more opportunities/future scope?
- Should I take coaching for competitive exams after 10th?
- Should I take state board or CBSE board after 10th?
- Should I go for diploma or other courses or complete schooling after 10th?

Some other dilemma would be like

- I am focusing on my preparation now. Let the result come out, and I will decide after that.
- My friends are taking up Science, so I will go with them
- Should I take up what my parents suggest?

After the class 10 board exam results are out, it is always a tough call for students to choose their stream. More like Robert Frost’s 'Crossroads' what will you do next? Will you take the road less travelled or go for the one trodden by many?

Most of the time, it is observed that students ignore their interests and go behind the trend which is followed by maximum people. Therefore, attending the right career guidance workshop is quintessential to ensure the student is guided properly and marches forward in the right path.

For a successful career, careful planning and following it up with a workable plan is needed. Career exploration, knowledge about one’s own self, decision making ability, future goals are some among the essential elements needed for a successful career planning.

Keeping this in mind, Daijiworld in Association with Vikas PU College, Mangaluru will be conducting a Career Guidance Seminar to help students better understand their Strengths, Weaknesses and the Opportunities to choose the right course.

The workshop will have 2 sessions

- How to map your strengths with the right course/career.
- Facing Examinations with a smile

Whatever career goal you have, no matter in whichever stream, you can turn it into reality. Add wings to your dreams and fly high.

"Whatever career goal you have, no matter in whichever stream, you can turn it into reality. Add wings to your dreams and fly high."
This, in my opinion, is a very irresponsible statement to make - especially to youngsters who are still unsure about what's out there. Obviously it's necessary to try out possibilities and do something you like. It's also necessary to be ready to face failures and learn from them.
