Udupi: MP Nalin slams state govt over murders, says drug mafia behind Deepak, Basheer deaths

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Jan 7: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Sunday January 7 hit out at the state government over the spate of killings of Deepak Rao in Katipalla and Basheer at Kottara Chowki and said that the government had failed to maintain law and order in the state. He also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lac to Basheer's family and expressed suspicions that drug mafia may be behind his and Deepak's murders.

Addressing an impromptu press meet after attending booth-level meeting of the BJP here, Nalin Kumar said, "There has been spate of attacks and murders continuously ever since the Congress government came to power in the state. Beginning with the attack on a woman in an ATM in Bengaluru, there have been attacks on students and murders of Hindu activists. Recently there was a murder at Kinnigoli, then a shootout in Mangauru, then Deepak murder and now Basheer's case. All this points to the fact that goondaism is on the rise under Congress rule.

"The present state government has been in power for over four-and-a-half years, but CM Siddaramaiah has still failed to take action on anti-social elements. No case has been investigated properly and police hands are tied. The CM and the home minister are not responding to all this. They need to take moral responsibility and follow up on these cases," he said.

"The Congress leaders are giving big speeches only for publicity and propaganda. Why are they interfering in matters of other parties? People trust the BJP and that is why they have given us the mandate.

"Congress should speak in a way that would build confidence in the public. Just announcing Rs 10 lac compensation is not enough, and in fact it is ploy to mislead the people. If Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai had been doing his job properly, there would have no communal violence in the district.

"When BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa was the chief minister and Krishna J Palemar and then C T Ravi were the DK district in-charge minister, such incidents of communal violence did not happen. We agree that the home stay attack happened when BJP was in power in the state, but our government took immediate action in the case. The present state government needs to take strict action in the murder cases," he said.

Speaking to reporters separately, Nalin Kumar Kateel said that drug mafia that is prevalent in Punjab is spreading its tentacles in Dakshina Kannada too. "Drugs are being sold in petty shops too nowadays. The state government is hand in glove with the drug mafia. Drug menace was the reason behind the murders of Deepak and Basheer."

He also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lac for the family of Basheer.

"I strongly condemn Basheer's murder. May his soul rest in peace. Everyone has the right to live. The state government's failure to maintain law and order in the coastal region has given rise to a fearful atmosphere.

"The state government should give compensation of Rs 50 lac to Basheer's family," he said.

Reiterating that rowdyism has increased in the state, he said, "Dacoits as well as communal forces have increased under Siddaramaiah's regime. The CM is arrogant and has no control over his officials. If the CM had any dignity left, he would have resigned by now.

"We have no expections from the government now. Ramanath Rai is going to taste defeat in the coming elections. He is creating fear in the minds of people for vote bank. Rai speaks nonsense as he wishes," Nalin alleged.

I want ask one question to Mr. Nalin Kateel MP of Mangalore. did he know his accountability as a MP. always only involving in Communal problem. He don’t have time to think about development of DK. He was chosen for all community not only for Hindus. He should hoist his voice for all communities.

Our Hindu brothers and families are facing so many problem in society that time he will vanish from Mangalore. Please we Mangalorean need Educated MP. Not like Mr. Nalin cheap mentality MP. He is winning because of RSS support. He never ever spoke about development about DK. In our DK we saw so many MP they did good work for DK except Mr. Dhanjay Kumar and Mr. Nalin they both are worst MP elected by Mangalorean. I urge BJP please next time select highly Educated and positive minded MP for Mangalore. Who can support all community as well he can raise his voice for DK in Parliament.

Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje. If you are so interested in the welfare of the people, please arrange peace meetings involving people of all communities. We have heard enough of your hate speeches, we are witnessing how people are being killed and we have seen how politicians like you like to fish in troubled waters. Have you ever tried to douse the flames of communal hatred? Please don't add fuel to the fire. This district is already burning and we certainly don't want hate mongers. We want people who can spread peace and camaraderie and not people who want to see the fire spreading. For a change, come on Kateel and Shobha, try to bring people together. Don't separate them. This district has witnessed great friendship between people of all religions, we want to live in peace. People have no problem in living in peace. Please don't spoil the atmosphere. If at all you can, do something to bring peace to this region. Apply healing balm to the wounds. God will bless you if you at least try to do that.

Coastal people very well know that who is best and who is worst. No need of teaching. Statement given by honourable Nalin Kumar Kateel is nothing but political stunt. Blame game does not last long. Now at this moment/juncture what we need in our state in general and coastal region in particular unity, harmony and no communal hatredness, control over drug mafia, no provocative talk, speeches in public meetings/rallies, proper maintenance of law and order. As one of our Muslim youth said in his video speech a couple of days ago-Hindu_Muslim_Christian unite together and stay away from voting in the ensuing Vidhana Sabha election and throw away all these crocodile tears shedding politicians, blame game political leaders. They are monsters, corrupt and playing on the lives of poor people. Those who are having little bit of concern for others in their hearts should feel pity on the family of murdered Deepak Rao, Basheer and their families. Real pain their family members know, not you political leaders. You are simply barking and blaming others, government. There are many elected representatives,MLAs,MPS in our region but what they did other than barking and giving polished talks. What is their contribution to this region. Why they have to blame each other. Why can't they do something from their end. For God sake I request all the political leaders, elected representatives,MLAS,MPs,government please try to maintain peace, harmony in the coastal region. Don’t mix your politics and play on the lives of innocent and poor people in the name of religion. Put complete brake on drug mafia and implement strict law and order in the district by keeping your politics aside. Enough is enough. By doing all these dirty politics, do you think, you will get enough majority to form the government in the upcoming election. Your names have already been damaged and started giving foul odour/smell. Don’t think that people of this region are fools. They are all well educated. We want justice to the families of Basheer and Deepak Rao
