Mangaluru: Youth's Facebook post urging for communal harmony turns instant hit

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 7: A video clip of a Muslim youth urging the people to forget communal enmity and live in unity that has been posted on Facebook has gained instant appreciation. Within a few hours since the video footage appeared, it was seen by over 44,000 times and shared over 900 times. In the video, the youth can be seen pleading with the people to live like humans by overlooking communal enmity, duly pointing out that death of a Hindu or Muslim results in loss to their respective families and not to anyone else or the religion.

The post, which pleads with the people to forge communal harmony and live with mutual trust and amity without differentiating people on the lines of their religious allegiance, is quite appealing. The entire video lasting about 30 minutes, is in Tulu.

"I lost my brother four months back. Till now, we do not know whether he was murdered or he accidentally drowned. Postmortem report is yet to be received. My family is yet to shake itself out of the shock of my brother's death. Our emotions are stirred when we see my mother shedding tears, duly holding my brother's photo in her hands," the youth can be seen describing in the video. The youngster also says that he was reminded of the pain and sorrow his mother has been through, after looking at the grief-stricken mother of slain Deepak Rao.

He says that those who incite communal violence have never themselves faced any harm and that those who lost their lives happen to be young people from poor families, who should have been pillars of support for their families. He wants the killers o think about the situation a family which depends on such young people faces when they die. "A noble Hindu or Muslim never gets involved with violence. When people fight for religion and die, their families are the one which bear the brunt. The others come to share the grief and say words of consolation for a couple of days before vanishing and getting busy with their lives. At least now we should take a pledge to live in harmony with people from all the religions," he is seen urging.

The youth is seen saying that family might get some compensation upon the death of their member on account of religious conflict but the mother will not get her son back. Religions never lose or gain upon the death of a member, but respective families will, he asserts. "Let us give up liquor, ganja, fight for religion etc and live in contentment. Let us not forget that ours is a district of intelligent people," the youth can be seen pleading. His views have come in for lavish praise from all corners of the society.

Quite right what this young man says. Each time a murder happens, immediately the other communal party jumps into the conclusion, that it is from opposite side and swear to take the revenge. And so goes the chain of revenge.without knowing the cause ,and roots we take the law in our hands ,to kill.Is it necessary?Let the police take this over to punish or not.Previously I remember that type of hatred was not there ,all were living peacefully with another.whatever the religion, caste, young ,old. After certain sanghis begann to "protect their religion",their animals from slaughtering ,begun to war,it continues till now. Some heads from temples gave their part to it. Hope slowly this war will be calmed and peace will return to our region .Hope for a good new year. without murder, assault, rape,.without moral policing .

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]

This is important quote because it shows that one should not be innocent bystanders – we are obliged to do something to stop wrongdoing. It also outlines to us the order in which we must do something.

If you see something wrong, the first point of call is to physically stop it (“…change it with his hand…”).

It is not enough for us to keep ourselves away from wrongdoing, we must help others as well, and stop them from falling into wrongdoing. This part of the quote also refers to stopping people from doing wrong to others or to yourself. Nowadays, there are many people who will not raise a finger to stop anti-social behaviour. If we have the ability to stop a crime or offence, then we must, no matter how small the action.

If you are not physically able to change things or stop wrongdoings, then you must speak out against it, or advise against it, or advise a better way, We shouldn’t remain silent when we have the ability to speak up. You can warn someone against doing wrong, advise them to change their ways.

Finally, if you are powerless to act on any of the two methods above, then you must oppose it in your heart. We do not accept wrongdoings nor resign ourselves to living out lives where there is no opposition to wrongdoings. We do not lie and let the wrongdoers roll over us, step over us and spread their mischief to others. Wrong is wrong and the moment you let go of this in your heart, then you lose sight of what is good and what is wrong. You stop seeing wrong as wrong and good as good – the lines become blurred and what is wrong becomes allowable. If you hate the wrongdoing in your heart, then perhaps an opportunity will come in the future, where you can speak out or physically stop the wrong.

As Allah Says in the Qur’an:
“Verily, with hardship there is relief” (Qur’an 94:6)

leaders like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Ramanath Rai, Jagadish Karanth, M.B.Puranik, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, Krishna Palemar, Moideen Bawa,Sharan Pumpwell, Jagadish Shenava,U.T.Khader and others sit together and find a permanent solution for peace and harmony in DK , specially in Mangalore city. This type of killings/murders or inflamtory speeches dont take place in other districts of Karnataka. So why only in DK???Anybody can answer? What is the solution for this? Let's try to be good Hindus, good Muslims, good Christians, good Jains, good Sikhs etc instead of killing innocent people.People of DK want Peace and Harmony. So stop playing dirty politics and start finding a solution for Peace and Harmony. Otherwise our Educational institutions and business sector will suffer.Businessmen will stop investing in Mangalore.

As the 1st step to bring peace and harmony in society, People should anonymously help police to break the Ganja and Drug chain. It's heard that in few places police ignoring the complaints as they are being bribed by these drug mafia. In such situations, this should go to the higher authority like Commissioner, DG and IG office. By this police will get pressure to tackle this mafia.

It is not only organizations..but many amongst us who are just typing comments on social media are supporting killings with their biased comments..They try to find justification for each murder and treat them as justified revenge and back the organization which they support..How crude mentality...They will only understand the pain when it hits them personally...

As per my knowledge most of the politicians children are pursuing their studies, graduation, engineering, medical, management etc in a reputed universities in India *(few) ad most in Foreign universities at the cost of ordinary poor youngsters life who were earning their families (generally) and parents particularly daily bread * Recent Youngster :late Deepak could merely fetch Rs.2500/- to his mother for monthly expenses after spending in housing loan, bike loan and his personal expenditures etc.
Do you think politicians family monthly expenditure Rs 2500/-??? at-least 3 more Zeros will be added.

So my humble request people please pray to Almighty to get Wisdom and be careful about this politics.
I hate this politics from my childhood.

Well said, this is what people have to think and not be blind on everything, people should stop joining any NGO and should not show to whom they are supporting, politics, religion and Sex should always be private it should not be discussed.
