Bengaluru: Aadhar compulsory in state for beneficiary-based government schemes

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 3: Following in the footsteps of the union government, Karnataka government has made it mandatory for the beneficiaries of state schemes to provide Aadhar information. Approval for this change was given at the cabinet meeting of the state headed by chief minister, Siddaramaiah, held here on Tuesday June 2.

Law and parliamentary affairs minister, T B Jayachandra, speaking to media persons after the meeting, said that the bill brought to make changes as above will pave way for more effective implementation of government schemes besides helping to maintain transparency.

When the media persons wanted to know the relevance of moving this bill even before the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict in a case that has questioned the union government's initiative to make Aadhar compulsory, Jayachandra said that this happens to be a temporary measure and that these rules will be mandatory only for the beneficiaries of government schemes.

When his attention was drawn to statements made by both the chief minister and food and civil supplies minister that Aadhar would not be made compulsory for BPL cards in the state, the minister noted that these ministers have said that Aadhar would not be mandatory for ration cards at present. However, provision about giving information about Aadhar will have to be made compulsory in government schemes like input subsidy, insurance scheme etc. He said that Aadhar details will have to be enforced where government extends assistance or facilities.

..Congress so much confused one day they oppose one day support..instead of proper implementation & linking, they just spent on Advt.. it was not mandatory any where, no legal status, Congress didnt passed in parliament..eventhough MODI opposed it initially since it was no use anywhere even after Congress spending millions, But he systematically implemented it (registrtion in just 3 years crossed total registaration of Congress 10 years),, passed in Parliament eventhough Congress rejected in RS twice, MODI made mandatory everywhere..truth is Congress fighting in SC through proxies against Aadhar still boast its their baby..we need political will not majority to bring changes..
