Mangaluru: Congressman attacks on-duty police constable, booked under IPC

Mangaluru, Jan 1: A case was registered against Congress leader, Amrit Kadri, in Urwa police station in the city, in connection with his reported assault on Puttarama, an on-duty police constable attached to city (east) traffic police station. Puttarama was checking vehicles at Bijai Battagudde at about 11.30 pm on Saturday December 30 when the incident happened.

Sub-inspector of traffic (east) station, R K Gawar, and other staff were checking vehicles at Battagudde which is located between Bijai - Circuit House Road when this incident happened. A case was registered thereafter at Urwa station on Sunday morning.

Reportedly, Amrit was driving his car towards Circuit House when traffic policeman, Puttarama, signalled him to stop. Amrit who stopped the vehicle, is stated to have questioned Puttarama's authority and audacity in stopping a car belonging to a popular leader like him. He also threatened to complain against Puttarama to higher officials. It is gathered that Amrit caught hold of Puttarama's collar, attacked him, and went away in his car, duly refusing to accept the notice served on him by the police for drunk driving.

Urwa police have booked Amrit Kadri under sections 341, 504, 323, and 353 of Indian Penal Code. Further investigation has been undertaken.

    Congressman attacks on-duty police constable, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing leader was arrested,Four people, including a local BJP leader, have been arrested in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore,These goondas are doing terror acts and some are giving good comments about them and some are bad....... Why all people join and condemn all these leaders who arrogant and attack public servants and people or destroy public properties????

    Should we vote Congress to power in the coming elections at Corporation, State and Central levels if this kind of leaders (?) are likely to rule us? This arrogant behaviour is just because his close proximity to some political leader at a higher level. Shame Congress. He should be given the same treatment as given to Manishankar Aiyer, but will local Congress show the guts? (I am not endorsing other political parties in any way)

    Is this going to be seriously challenged or be washed out. Puttarama may be compromised by any means. But will Law and Order be respected by the Senior Police Officials when it comes to this nature.

    Serious action should not only be taken but every move should be published. Merely action taken at the moment will not yeild any justice.
