Mangaluru: New Year revellers hope for best as Hindu activists oppose celebrations

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 31: A section of Hindu organizations has expressed bitter opposition to late night revelries in the name of New Year celebration. A few organizations committed to Hindutva ideologies have expressed their determination to put an end to DJ and parties going on in bars and restaurants beyond 11 pm today.

The district police department has said that the parties beyond 12 am will not be permissible. Therefore, traditional organizers of New Year parties hope that they will not face any problem. The New Year parties usually culminate after the people shout new year greetings in a crescendo and frantically greet each other at 12 am. But leaders of pro-Hindu organizations including Bajrang Dal leader, Sharan Pumpwell, have threatened to gatecrash into DJ parties going on in pubs and bars after 11 pm. They have asked the police not to allow pubs and bars to function beyond 11 pm.

Police commissioner T R Suresh

Pumpwell feels that New Year parties are ideal occasions for trapping girls as part of Love Jihad. Such parties also are known to be used by drug and sex mafia, he argues.

But parties are being organized tonight like every year. Those who are arranging these parties are sure that police and the administration will see that those who follow rules are not harmed. Some point out that such warnings were issued even in previous years where parties went ahead without any disruptions, and that Hindu outfits should not have grouse against parties where no illegal activities go on and where women are dealt with respect. A few party organizers have said that they plan to hold the party in a decent atmosphere without allowing anyone to cross limits of decency. There are also parties where men and women are separated with the help of barricades.

City police commissioner, T R Suresh, has assured party organizers that they can go ahead with the parties if they follow all the rules and guidelines framed by the district police. He has warned people who are opposed to such parties of stern action if they try to break law.

For me the fringe elements ( right wingers) are same as the Taliban.
The Daksina kannada middle class have allowed them just like the citizens have allowed Hamas.

This is the society we live in. I am not a fan of drunk parties . But police have to respect and regulate .

Just because Ur party lost both the states don't conclude India is going

Every country in the world where religious extremists taken over, it has been impossible for people to live in peace. In Mangalore we have VHP & BD imposing their will on people with the support of police. In the past Sharan pump has made public statement that police ask them first before any function if it is ok by them.
It is time that all peaceful people of coastal districts to stand up to these goons and also for the police to show who are the upholders of law and order. Congress may be quite as it may benefit them politically and BJP is supporting goons as they are their subsidiaries. Give hafta to Pump and the goons and you can party all night. Happy New Year to you all.

Come on Sharan.. Grow up. What a foolish statement(FEEL) -"New Year parties are ideal occasions for trapping girls as part of Love Jihad". First of all there is no term such as Love Jihad in Islam . Islam never supports it. Secondly, we Muslims never celebrate new year by dancing and drinking in Pubs which is totally prohibited.

The Police Commissioner made an error in giving a deadline to the New Year functions.

HE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE DEADLINE UPTO 02:00 A.M., ON 01.01.2018

ON NAVARATRI, DHASARA WHOLE NIGHT PEOPLE WERE FULL AT THE BRIM DANCING, DANCING ON THE ROAD FROM LAALBAAG TO P.V.S. TO K.S. RAO ROAD, TO GANAPATI TEMPLE ROAD TO HAMPANKATTA, TO CAR STREET UP TO KUDROLI. WHETHER THESE PEOPLE HAVE DRUNK AND DANCE THEY THEMSELVES ARE WITNESS AND THE SPECTATORS ARE THE WITNESSES.

So the Police Commissioner should increase New Year prayers and celebrations up to 02:00 A.M.

AND THOSE MAKE DISTURBANCES TO THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE SHUT BEHIND THE BARS

    Dear Amith shetty, Mangalore, Qatar,

You need to be educated yourself concerning festivals.

In the Christian Calander, New Year is also a festival.

Many Christians are in the fasting from 29-31 cleansing and sanctifying themselves to the forthcoming new year.

WE CHRISTIANS DO IT IN EVERY CHURCHS.

AFTER THE PrAYERS / MASS PEOPLE WILL GATHER AND WILL HAVE FOOD OR CAKE IN THE CHURCH.

THERE IS NO ALCOHOL SERVED IN THE CHURCHES. AFTER THE PRAYERS WHOEVER WANTED WILL GO TO BAR OR MAY BE GOING TO THEIR OWN HOUSES TO DRINK.

Yes. you don't criticise qatari festivals because you will be out from there.

You went to gulf for better prospects because under Chaaiwaala tenure no jobs whatsoever.

India is a democratic country and we are now trying hard for sustain peoples democracy from becoming fundamentals theocratic caliphate.

WHO ARE THESE VHP AND BD TO STOP ALL CHRISTIAN CELEBRATIONS IN INDIA.

CHRISTIAN CAROL SINGERS ATTACKED AND ARRESTED IN MADHYA PRADESH.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN U.P

IN RAJASTAN CHRISTIANS CAROL SINGERS VENUE WAS VANDALIZED.

Do you mean to say this is a democracy???!!!.

WHEREAS IN U.A.E, BAHRAIN YOU CAN WORSHIP YOUR LIKING GODS NOT IN KSA.

SO EDUCATE YOURSELF, NEW YEAR IS ALSO A FESTIVAL TO FORSEE NEW YEAR 2018.

I ONCE AGAIN CATEGORICALLY ASK THE POLICE COMMISSIONER OF MANGAORE TO EXTEND THE DEADLINE FROM 12:00 TO 02:00 A.M.

THOSE PEOPLE WHO OBJECT AND STOP PEOPLE FROM CELEBRATING NEW YEAR FESTIVAL SHOULD BE DEALT WITH SEVERELY.

All people of India have liberty to celebrate their festivals as long no law and order disturbed. But last 20 years these illiterate brain washed goons started poking their nose in others affair. Since Modi became the PM of India, these goons daring increased .
This is purely the inefficiency and incompetency of our police, who take salary from government, and take orders from goons. If we DO NOT put an end to this now, the coming days will be too difficult.

You practice your religion, and celebrate festivals, no one will interfere. LIVE AND LETS OTHERS LIVE PEACEFULLY.
