Bengaluru, Dec 29: The bill banning triple talaq and making instant triple talaq or talaq-e-biddat a criminal offence with a jail term of up to three years, which was passed by Lok Sabha on Thursday, has come in for strong criticism from Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait in Bengaluru on Friday.

The provisions of the Bill were against the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and curbs rights of minority community related to the marriage, the minister said.

The Modi government has sought the state government’s comments on the draft Bill.

But the Congress government had not sent its comments which deemed to be considered as the rejection of the Bill in total, said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait, who also heads the Minority Department.

Sait said the marriage system in the Muslim community was different from the Hindus.

He said a meeting of Muslim religious heads, leaders and legislators would be called next to discuss the pros and cons of the Bill and later the Government would send its comments on the Bill to the Centre.

The minister said more divorce cases were being reported in non-Muslim communities while they were ‘negligible’ in the Muslim community.

Unlike other communities, there has been drastic reduction of childbirth rates among Muslim community, the minister said.

When government is doing any regulation to upgrade of woman in Muslim community as a citizen we should support irrespective of cast, religion etc. Talaq is no ware mentioned in Quran and it is generated to empower male in suppressing woman in community.Uniform civil code should be formed as females has the equal right and opportunity to defend them self and oppose such act by men to defame them.I really support in the name of religion one should not suppress others in same community. My brothers are not with me in this but anyway i love my wife as she is and she is always with me till my end.I will not use this triple talaq as tool to suppress her.If central government asked for any opinion for states the issue will keep on dragging without any solution to the core issue. It is an welcome move.............

He says that Marriage system is different for Muslims...... The government has to make all laws according to Muslim laws for all Muslims. government must follow sharia law like Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia any one is caught for any crime they will give punishment as per Muslim law..... anyone caught in killing they will shoot him, If any one robes they may cut hand or they will put him jail etc.
    there is no bail....... ????
