Dr Haider Al Yousuf, director of Health Funding at DHA emphasized the importance of Aafiya initiative to expand its services by providing access to more premium value-added healthcare services to its customers.
Al Yousuf spoke of the decision taken by DHA to extend the insurance cover which includes three types of cancer that can be treated under the basic package of compulsory insurance provided by DHA at the Emirate’s level, considering it a milestone in the field of health insurance coverage.

Ali Zaidi gave a speech in the beginning of the ceremony in which he welcomed Dr Haider Al Yousuf and other guests. He stated that ‘Dahab’ is a product that goes beyond the traditional health insurance cards, which includes a range of value-added benefits from health care centers, nutritionists, and fitness centers, noting that the philosophy behind this insurance card is inspired by Ralph Emerson’s quote ‘the first wealth is health’.

Zaidi stated, “We have prepared ourselves to keep up with the unprecedented growth witnessed by the UAE healthcare sector, therefore we have decided to launch ‘Dahab’ card, in line with the efforts and developments in the industry.” He also pointed out that ‘Dahab’ is the card of the future and the passport to healthcare services.

Zaidi praised the DHA’s initiative during the ceremony, to make health insurance mandatory for all Dubai residents, noting that this step was a pioneering one as Dubai is one of the world's leading cities in the field of health care. He also expressed Aafiya’s pride to be part of Dubai’s drive towards innovation and excellence in healthcare, considering the company’s success in serving more than half a million people over the past three years, which has won many awards in the field of health insurance.
