Karkala, Dec 21: Two leopards died due to hunger in Kantaragoli of Erlapady village and Ellare of Kadtala village on Wednesday, December 20.
In one of the incidents, a female leopard that was spotted writhing in pain and rolling in the yard of a person called William at 7 am on Wednesday, died a little later in a field that was little away. A video of this incident has gone viral now on social sites.
In another incident, a dead male leopard was found at Ellare of Kadtala village.
On hearing the information, Karkal zonal forest officer Dinesh and personnel visited both the spots and collected vital information. During the post-mortem of the leopards, no trace of food was found in their stomach. It is suspected that they must have died due to hunger.
Increase in leopard attacks is being reported from Erlapady, Govinduru, Palli, Kanajar, Neere, Bailoor and Kadtala.
