BJP loses Modi's hometown in Gujarat by over 19,000 votes

Ahmedabad, Dec 18 (IANS): The BJP has retained its grip over Gujarat but lost Unjha constituency to the Congress that includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hometown of Vadnagar.

Congress' Asha Patel defeated outgoing BJP MLA Patel Narayanbhai Lalludas by a margin of over 19,500 votes in the traditional stronghold of the Patidar community. While Patel polled 81,797 votes, her BJP rival got 62,268.

In 2012, Lalludas defeated Patel by nearly 25,000 votes.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the party's star campaigner, had extensively campaigned in Unjha during his Navsarjan Yatra. On his visit to the region, Gandhi also prayed at the Umiya Mata temple, close to Vadnagar -- where Modi was brought up.

Weeks before the election process began in Gujarat where the BJP has been in power for the last 22 years, Modi inaugurated Umiya Dham Ashram in Haridwar for the pilgrims from the region visiting the Hindu holy city on the bank of the Ganges.

This is the begginning of the end of Jhumla and Divisive politics in India. I am sure in the 2019 elections the people of India will Hatao Modi and Amit Shah and replace them with moderate statesmen like Vajpayee or if looking for an alternative then to an inexperienced by straight forward young leader Like Rahul Gandhi whose slow and steady run will finally win the race and free this country from the damage done by the duo of Modi and Amit Shah.

You have no right to call any Indian staying in India as slaves because India is a independent free country. It's people who work in other countries who are actual slaves and prefer staying and working in foreign land inspite Modi being PM and Indians are witnessing acche din.

All this does not matter now since there was cast based votes this time around in Gujarat. All these patidar etc. will have to come to road with their demands of reservation. This is crazy. On the one hand we are talking about equality in society, where is the question of reservation. Every thing should be on merit.

Following is applicable to all political parties:

No matter how foolish honesty is ... one day it definitely advances ... and no matter how smart dishonesty is ... one day it definitely has to go to the jail.

And wisdom is to distinguish between honesty and dishonesty.. few people got clean chit despite being hounded by the entire establishment and few people are out on bail for scams and are running to temples with their new found religiousness....

..Congress pacifying themself with all sort of things..they say, BJP lost in Modi home town, BJP got less than earlier election, they say BJP didnt do better in saurastra, they say BJP struggled to cross 100...truth is there is a pass mark..that is 92..if you have 92 you can form govt..if you get less than 92 you will loose..Congress tried to bring BJP below 92, but failed..BJP got above 92, forming Govt..Congress lost..simple..

..'Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the party's star campaigner, had extensively campaigned in Unjha during his Navsarjan Yatra'..may be this is the reason, Congress lost Gujrat..dont focus just one..it happened in Rajkot also..they concentrated on Rupani but lost East & West area also..by the way, Himachal Pradesh BJP CM candidate lost..does it make any difference, any way BJP forming Govt..

The BJP used up all our tax money yours and mine to buy the media that did the exit polls in their favor.

Exit polls actually work to impress upon those undecided voters who don't seem to have decided whom to vote for.

In spite of all hipe, patting own back by Modiji election result is a clear set back for his charisma and party bring in power in state as well as in Delhi.Congresd need not regret because it bagged 80 seats giving tough fight to all strong BJP.It is very clear from the results that people are not happy with present policies of the BJP more particularly PM Modi.2019 election will be a tough challenge unless BJP learns from this election ,people's mood and try to reach out to poor people who are dying with high cost of daily life. After may 2014 every daily essentials has doubly costlier .....Free LPG to poor is a farce...it's x Burgin on other city middle class people....game cleverly played by Modi.Banks are running in rough weather and blamed us put in Congress just to escape from his failures.
