Udupi, Dec 16: District BJP unit members staged protest at War Memorial ground Ajjarkad, on Friday, December 15 demanding justice in the case of suspicious death of Paresh Mesta at Honnavar.
Addressing the protestors, BJP district president Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde said, “Highest number of Hindu outfits’ activists have been brutally murdered in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. In Sharath Madivala’s case, his death was revealed after CM Siddaramaiah’s visit to Mangaluru. A group of miscreants pelt stones during the procession of Sharath’s funeral. BJP has pressurized the government to ban PFI and KFD organizations. No action has been taken by the government so far.
“The state government has withdrawn 30-40 cases registered against the members of PFI and KFD. Over 20 Hindu outfits’ members have been killed in four years in Karnataka alone. One particular community has been trying to disrupt peace and harmony in the society,” he said.
Mattaru further said, “Karnataka government provided Rs 10 lac for Kabeer’s family, but in the case of Sharath Madivala, compensation was delayed. After so much of pressure, the government announced compensation for his family.
“During the period of Ananth Kumar Hedge, there was no violence in Bhatkal. Paresh was not involved in any political or Hindu outfits. BJP leaders had given some hints to the police department about the violence that would take place in Honnavar. But they did not take any precautions. No one has been arrested yet in this case.
“No one can bring Paresh Mesta back to his family. IGP Nimbalkar said that Paresh Mesta's death was unnatural after the post mortem report gave evidence. He gave the statement before the arrival of the forensic report.
“According to Mesta's father, it was murder, but the government did not bother about his feelings. Now the post mortem report proves that it was a murder.
“We are confident about CBI that they will bring out the truth. No party has courage to suppress Hindu outfits. Hundreds of Mestas will take birth in Karnataka. Karnataka government should take care of Hindu youths and see that not a single innocent youth is killed due to unnecessary reasons. The government should give special attention towards such types of incidents and see that they are not repeated,” Mattaru said.
Zilla panchayat vice-president Sheela K Shetty also shared her views at the protest meet.
BJP leaders Raghupati Bhat, Yashpal Suvarna, Sheesha Naik, Akshath Shetty, Shyamala Kundar, Sandhya Ramesh, Geetha Shet, Reshma, Rashmitha, Nalini Pradeep Rao, Vijay Kundar and others were present.
