Anil Ambani's Reliance Group files Rs 5000 cr defamation suit against Abhishek Singhvi

New Delhi, Dec 15 (PTI): Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group has filed a Rs 5,000-crore defamation suit against Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi in the Gujarat High Court, sources close to the Group said.

The suit, which was filed against Singhvi for allegedly making "false and defamatory statements", is likely to come up for hearing on Monday.

The group spokesperson was not immediately available for comments.

A Reliance group spokesperson had on November 30 stated that: "Abhishek Singhvi has made false, defamatory and libellous statements against the group. We will be filing a Rs 5,000-crore suit for damages against Singhvi for making these false and defamatory statements."

That day, Singhvi had said that "top 50 corporates owe Rs 8.35 lakh crore to banks and out of those, three top Gujarat- based companies -- Reliance (Anil Ambani Group), Adani and Essar -- owe Rs 3 lakh crore."

"One of them had last month publicly declared that they are shutting their telecom business with a liability of Rs 45,000 crore due to banks," he said in an apparent reference to Reliance Communications shutting down 2G business.

Anil Ambani's Reliance recently sacked 3,000 employees from its telecom business. His bankrupt company got one more lifeline from PM Modi's government which got part of 'Rafale jet' deal worth Rs.30000 which has 'zero' experience in defence manufacturing.
Public sector banks (PSBs) have written off loans of Rs 55,356 crore during April-September 2017, nearly 54% more compared to the same period last fiscal, as per data compiled by rating agency ICRA.
According to a report in the Indian Express on Monday, PSBs had written off Rs 35,985 crore in loans during April-September 2016.
The combined bad loans of 21 Public sector Banks are estimated at Rs 7.33 lakh crore as at the end of September this year.
The RBI in June identified 12 large defaulters including Essar Steel, Monnet Ispat, Bhushan Steel and Bhushan Steel and Power.
PSBs have dragged all these corporate houses to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the resolution process is in advanced stages.
According to the RBI, PSBs had written off Rs 2.28 lakh crore in bad loans in the nine years to fiscal 2015-16.
The government amended the Banking Regulation Act in May this year to empower the central bank to issue directions to PSBs to resolve their bad loans. The extraordinary step was taken by the government as bankers were shying away from taking decisions on resolution of loans which would necessitate accepting deep haircuts for lenders.
The RTI backlog at the central bank had risen to 38,884 applications at the end of 2015-16 – three times the number of applications received by it during the year.
Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Act (FRDI) proposed law is stoking the worst fears of India’s bank depositors. The day is not far off it account holders are getting robbed of their savings in overnight to bail out capitalist losses who in turn funded BJP election expenses.
As 2G scam verdict draws dear, questions remain about Anil Ambani’s ‘Memory Loss’. But defamation suit proves his claims lies.

This is BJP famous vote bank tactics "Atrocity or Award". This is in reaction for the recent Sanghvi accusing BJP of EVMs. Although the alleged defamation was done months before BJP has used Reliance to do the job now as BJP doesn't have any other person to use against congress.
