Mangaluru: 'Arso' special edition release function to be held on Dec 17

Mangaluru, Dec 15: The special edition of Konkani literary magazine ‘Arso’ edited and published by well-known writer and critic H M Pernal and the prize distribution of Poetry Completion 2017 held by Poetics headed by well-known Konkani writer-poet-lyricist Wilson Kateel will be held at ‘Suma Sadana’, Kadri, Mallikatta at 7 pm on December 17.

The special edition of ‘Arso’ will be released by multi-linguist poet, short story writer Gokuldas Prabhu, who is the member of the General Council of the Sahithya Academy, New Delhi and also the president of All India Konkani Parishad. In his keynote address Gokuldas Prabhu will speak on the topic 'New Experiments in Modern Konkani Poetry'.

‘Arso’ has been bringing special editions since 2014 and these special editions comprise a wide array of literary gems in the form of descriptive essays, poems, short stories, epic stories, travelogue and special articles and literary write ups on relevant and contemporary issues. This year’s issue deals with the highly relevant topic – ‘Social media and Social Concern’.

Poetics was started three years back under the leadership of Wilson Kateel with the main objective of providing a platform for poets to put their creativity to use through poetry. Starting from this year, Poetics conducted a poetry competition to general public and the winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2000 to the first, second and third prize winners respectively, on the occasion.
