Mumbai, Dec 14: Brushing aside rumours of a split in the D Company, an organised crime syndicate controlled by fugitive underworld element Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel has reportedly told that he would be associated with the D Company till his last breath.

Speaking to a leading media house over telephone, Shakeel said that he was very much with Dawood Ibrahim. Shakeel is considered as a close aide of Dawood for decades.

Recent reports in the media had claimed that that the two fugitives had parted ways after several decades of association in crime.

According to top intelligence sources, Chhota Shakeel is miffed with Dawood’s younger brother Anees Ibrahim who is trying his best to gain control of the operation of D Company. This had led to a verbal brawl between the two, after which Dawood had advised Shakeel to stay away.

It also said that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been trying hard to broker peace between the two fugitives as a split would hamper their terror activities against India.

Chhota Shakeel became one of the top names in D Company after Dawood had fallout with Chhota Rajan, another member of the gang. It is alleged that Shakeel planned an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Rajan in Bangkok in the year 2000. Rajan is now in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India.

It is believed by Indian security agencies that Dawood is hiding in Karachi in Pakistan under the protection of ISI. ISI succeeded in carrying out the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai allegedly with the help of the Dawood gang, and Shakeel is one of the main accused in the case.
