Mangaluru, Dec 13: As many as 20 to 25 miscreants created havoc by damaging the window panes of house and another building and by damaging vehicles, at Kotepur, Ullal late night on December 10. The incident came to light a day ago.

The gang damaged the window panes of Sultan Sports and Cultural Club’s building at Kotepur. The gang also smashed the windscreen of a fish lorry parked on the road, damaged a bike completely, hurled stones to the roof of the house belonging to Farooq, and damaged the sign board of a bus stand.

All the youth in the gang are residents of Kodi. A complaint against Azeem, Arshad, Thousif, Anees, Chappa, Rizwan, Nizam, Naushad, Naufal, Thousif, Badru, Ashfaq and Imran was registered at Ullal police station. There were physical fights between two groups due to personal disputes. It is said that the gang had caused destruction due to that reason.

Consumption of drugs

Locals have alleged that the gang cannot indulge in such activities without consuming drugs. “Such incidents in Ullal would not have occurred if anti rowdy squad had arrested ganja addicts, growers and peddlers after the murder of Zubair,” they said. They also added that such incidents have continued as the police have failed to arrest drug addicts.

There is anxiety among people that the police have made no arrests though the incidents have occurred late night on December 10 and complaint was registered at the police station.
