Mangaluru: Spandana Trust, Infant Mary’s Convent hold annual day

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Spandana Trust, Infant Mary’s Convent, Jeppu celebrated their annual day and human rights day on December 10.

About 3,000 people gathered on the occasion at Infant Mary’s Convent campus. Sr Sylvia Fernandez, superior of Infant Mary’s Convent presided over the function. Vani Periodi, social activist, Hitha Resource Unit, was the chief guest of the day. Fr Rupesh Madtha, director YCS/ YSM Mangaluru was the guest of honor and delivered the Christmas message to the people gathered. Suchithra president, Munnade SHG Federation and Sr Evangeline, the former managing trustee were present on the stage.

The president of the function Sr Sylvia Fernandes said, “Spandana Trust is doing yeomen service to the humanity irrespective of caste and creed.” She also appreciated the noble work of the trust.



Vani Periodi spoke on the importance of the human rights. She stressed on right to education right to equality and invited all to fight for rights without hesitation. Spandana Trust is doing this task beautifully, she said.

Fr Rupesh Madtha delivered the Christmas message and said that Lord’s grace is present in the area of Infant Mary’s Convent. He called all to imitate Jesus in good acts of charity. “We are called to be good and to avoid bad deeds, but however we fail to do good deeds. Being human we are call to love God and love our neighbor. The great Christmas message is to love selflessly as we love our self as well,” he said.

Sr Helen Fernandes, managing trustee welcomed the gathering. The co-coordinator Victor read out Spandana Trust report and Theertha K S, social worker proposed the vote of thanks.

SHG members from various places entertained the gathering with meaningful items.
