Doha: Mumbai XII emerge victorious in CDC cricket tourney’s inaugural match

Doha, Dec 11: Mumbai XII defeated the sponsor team CDC by 80 runs in the inaugural match of the 29th CDC Cricket Tournament 2018 at West Bay Cricket Complex.

Winning the toss, CDC put Mumbai XII into bat. In the humid and heavy weather, Mumbai XII started confidently and scored 51 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the first six overs. Shariq hit some lusty shots and added 50 runs off 16 deliveries with 7 sixes and a boundary. Shabab contributed 35 runs with 4 sixes and a boundary. Monty, Mudassir and Adam scored 22 runs each. Mumbai XII scored a massive total of 237 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.



For CDC, Jagdish bagged 3 wickets for 11 runs, Nishanta, Narda, Mahesh and Partha took 2 wickets each.

In reply, CDC lost their opener Indulan bowled by Mohammed for a duck on the 4th ball of the first over at the team score of 8 runs. Thereafter, Nishanta and Kasun played confidently and scored 31 runs with 2 sixes and 2 boundaries and 13 runs with a boundary respectively. CDC scored 73 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in first 6 overs. Fiyam and Ashraf added 17 runs each. CDC finally were all out for 157 runs in 17.1 overs.

Mohan took 4 wickets for 16 runs, Mohammed took 3 wickets, Sabir bagged 2 wickets and Nadeem took 1 wicket.

For his all-round performance, Shabab of Mumbai XII was adjusted Man of the Match.

Earlier, in the morning, Sanjiv Jain, business development manager of CDC inaugurated the tournament in presence of Qatar Veterans cricket officials, players and match officials.

Wellon CC 153 runs all out in 19.4 overs (Sanjaya 33 runs off 15 balls with 5 sixes, Lahiru 31 runs in 23 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours, Sameer and Rameez took 3 wickets each) lost to Alliance 154 runs in 19.4 overs (Nassir 28 runs in 14 balls with 3 sixes and a four, Tharindu (S) 4 wickets for 21 runs, Dushan 2 wickets for 10 runs)

M Pallonji defeated McDonalds by 8 wickets

McDonalds 159 runs all out in 16.5 overs (Iftikar 34 runs in 12 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours, Bari 32 runs in 23 balls with 3 sixes, Alban 4 wickets for 15 runs, Sanath 2 wickets for 10 runs) lost to M Pallonji 163 runs for 3 wickets in 14.4 overs (Sandesh 29 runs in 10 balls with 4 sixes and 1 four, Raazik 22 runs in 12 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours)

Ceylon Warriors defeated Al Fardan by 63 runs

Ceylon Warriors 165 runs for 4 wickets in 12 overs (Pragash 24 runs in 6 balls with 4 sixes, Nuwan 22 runs in 7 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours) beat Al Fardan 102 runs for 5 wickets in 12 overs (Irshad 31 runs in 14 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours, Prasad 22 runs in 8 balls with 3 sixes)

Doha Motors defeated Jaidah Motors by 7 runs

Doha Motors 134 runs for 9 wickets in 12 overs (Sayeed 24 runs in 9 balls with a six and 3 fours, Nilesh 25 runs in 13 balls with 3 sixes, Janus 2 wickets for 13 runs) beat Jaidah Motors 127 runs for 7 wickets in 12 overs (Taufiq 25 runs in 9 balls with 3 sixes, Sayeed 2 wickets for 4 runs)

QVC defeated MIC by 7 wickets

MIC 136 runs for 2 wickets in 12 overs (Zafran 22 runs in 8 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours, Kazi 2 wickets for 23 runs) lost to QVC 137 runs for 4 wickets in 12 overs (Rameez 24 runs in 8 balls with 3 sixes, Khurram 2 wickets for 1 run)
