Pak interfering in Guj polls, its army ex-DG wants Ahmed Patel as CM: Modi

Palanpur (Gujarat), Dec 10 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged Pakistan was interfering in Gujarat Assembly polls, and sought an explanation from the Congress over its top partymen who are said to have recently met leaders from the neighbouring country.

Addressing a poll rally in Palanpur, the prime minister also raised questions over the alleged appeal by former director general of the Pakistan Army, Sardar Arshad Rafiq, that senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel be made chief minister of Gujarat.

Modi said (former Congress minister) Mani Shankar Aiyar had called him "neech" (vile) a day after the alleged meeting of Pakistani leaders with top Congressmen.

"There were media reports yesterday about a meeting at Mani Shankar Aiyar's house. It was attended by Pakistan's high commissioner, Pakistan's former foreign minister, India's former vice president and former prime minister Manmohan Singh," Modi said.

The meeting at Aiyar's house carried on for almost three hours, Modi said.

"The next day, Mani Shankar Aiyar said Modi was 'neech'. This is a serious matter," he said. Modi added that Rafiq had backed Ahmed Patel as the next chief minister of Gujarat.

"(On one side) Pakistan Army's former DG is interfering in Gujarat's election, on the other side, Pakistan's people are holding a meeting at Mani Shankar Aiyar's house," he said.

"And, after that meeting, people of Gujarat, backward communities, poor people and Modi were insulted. Don't you think such events raise doubts," Modi asked.

He said the Congress should inform the people of the country what exactly it was up to.

Modi was speaking at the rally for the ongoing state Assembly polls. The second phase of polling in north and central Gujarat, including the Banaskantha district, will be held on December 14.

The Prime Minister had on Friday accused Aiyar of giving 'supari' (contract) while on a visit to Pakistan to get him "removed" from the way to ensure peace between India and the neighbouring country.

The Prime Minister's remarks come a day after Aiyar set off a political firestorm when he called Modi a "neech kism ka aadmi".

The Congress suspended Aiyar from the primary membership of the party and issued him a show cause notice for his remarks.

Nation's leading legal experts need to check this out and take the matter to SC if Modi government is guilty of inaction. If it is a lie then publicly officially admit that one has lied and tarnished reputation of opposition with serious false allegations.

This is not expected from the PM even now. What is his problem if someone else become Chief Minister? Its people's choice. People are tired of hearing such talks. Its time now to check how many promises are left to achieve.

Forget Muslim, India had a Muslim lady as CM of Assam in 1980–81 for about 6 months, she was Syeda Anwara Taimur from INC.
Perhaps the most well-known CM from Muslim community was A R Anutulay in Maharashtra who resigned i 1982 and was perhaps the last Muslim CM in the country apart from J&K.
There been Muslim CMs in Bihar, Rajasthan, Kerala and Pondicherry in past as well, however none completed full term so far.
The BJP which has not even granted one seat to Muslims, Christians or Sikh in this assembly elections is projecting Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel like citizen of Pakistan.
Perhaps PM Modi has forgotten that his party made an alliance with Vaiko founder and General Secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,.
Vaiko unequivocally supported LTTE and other organizations fighting for a separate Tamil country in Sri Lanka. He made a trip to Eelam at the height of the LTTE's war with Sri Lankan Army. Vaiko was the first member of Parliament and chief of a registered political party in the country to be detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002. He was released after spending 18 months in prison.
If disgusting to see that Prime Minister of nation has fallen to cheap politics to polarise Hindu vote bank. His parties 'Vikas' has not only got 'Pagal' even PM acts like insane deliberately trying to cause enmity among the religion.

    1. Where is autonomous Election commision of India has gone know?
2.Why do Prime Minister of India is objection of having Chief Minister of state of Gujarat who is citizen of India?
    3. Do Prime Minister represent Nagpur of Republic of India?

It is clear signs that BJP's vikas has failed. Gujarat Model is nothing but doom.

Foremost, Mr. Modi is India's PM, not the CM of Gujarat. Well, go for one-two election campaigns but carrying out 100% election rallies for Gujarat's state poll is too cheap of him, displays his apprehension about whether BJP can continue its hold on Gujarat.

Secondly, its time he understands his responsibilities, discusses about development, future agenda, talks like a PM of India than becoming a cry-baby with 'mummy... mummy... Paki Army-ex-DG met Manishankar Aiyar'

Your chest is grown to 56" but you are still the thumb-chewing mummy ka beta ! Please don't call yourself as Indians are my parents - I don't think the entire nations agrees with it.

Now I suspect Modi had got the intelligence report of losing Gujarath & he had to resort to raise the same bogey of Pak hand in Gujarath.
If a PM with such brute majority cannot control or safeguard the nation from foreign hand & take action instead of silly accusations certainly he is now ready to blame Pak instead of failed attempt to hack EVMs to gain upper hand.

    Mr. Alphonso Rodrigues,

Did Mr. Modi take your permission before gate crashing at Navaz Shariff's birthday party ? Or, did he whisper in your ears the next day that he visited his jigri-dost ? When the PM himself doing such things, how can you believe his tell-tales ? Nevertheless, when the PM himself goes to an enemy country's PM's home unannounced, imagine his bond with those minister ? Did he reveal to the nation about what was discussed there ? How come he came to know what Ayer discussed with his guests ? Couldn't it be that Modi has his spies in Pakistan who passed on the information about what was discussed by/with the ex-DG of Pakstan ?

With all this being in the backpack, what right does Mr. Modi have to point out whether rest of the citizens (Ayer is now not in Congress) meet Pakistani or Chinese citizens ?
