In the past, the conditions were so bad that backward classes were struggling to make their ends meet everyday, and leaders like Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru took this country forward and sacrificed their lives for the sake of independence. Indira Gandhi also undertook various initiatives for helping the needy and for providing social justice. Ours was one among the districts that was comparatively more powerful land financially better off as compared to others."

Rai said that the country is in need of young, energetic leaders like Rajshekar Kotian to take it forward. People have benefitted a lot from successive congress governments, and even the current government under Siddaramaiah has introduced several schemes for the benefit of the people. "We always follow in the footsteps of Narayana Guru who advocated one caste one religion concept for the entire mankind and we assure that this time we will become victorious in all the eight constituencies in Dakshina Kannada district and Dr Rajshekar Kotian has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to make it possible," he stated.

Minister for food and civil supplies, U T Khader, said,"Dr Rajshekhar Kotian has gained lot of appreciation globally and it is the right time for him to join Congress and work for welfare of people. Dr Rajshekhar Kotian can make use of this opportunity to get groomed under the able guidance of senior leaders like Janardhana Poojary and Veerappa Moily and follow in their footsteps. Congress always has been with the poor and worked for the sake of unity and we are confident of grabbing all the assembly constituencies in our district," he said.

MLA Abhayachandra Jain, expressed the opinion that services of senior leader, Janardhana Poojary, should always be remembered. "He sincerely worked for the welfare of poor and for strengthening the Congress party. Now its time for Dr Rajshekhar Kotian to continue the same spirit of serving people through politics. I wish him all success for his future endeavours," he added.

MLA J R Lobo, said,"Dr Rajshekhar Kotian has taken a bold step in entering politics from the film industry. A number of people and politicians are responsible for achieving the development in this district and their contribution is enormous. After entering politics, Dr Rajshekhar Kotian should be ready to face all the hurdles, criticism etc which he might encounter, and it is common for all the politicians. May god bless him for his future".

On this occasion, Dr Rajshekhar Kotian was felicitated.

Wheel chairs were distributed to beneficiaries on the occasion.

After accepting the felicitation, Rajshekhar Kotian said," I feel blessed after witnessing the love and support from the people in extending grand felicitation to me on my foray into politics and I am confident that they will continue to shower their love and blessings on me during my political career. I have come from poor family and faced all the hurdles and managed to enter film industry and business. As I have come from poor family i always feel the urge to wipe out tears of poor and politics is the best way to make this possible. At a young age i saw Congress party helping the needy, backward classes and I had then nursed the ambition of joining Congress and fulfill my dreams to helping the poor. I follow Dr BR Ambedkar, Vivekananda and Narayana Guru who always stressed upon human values and care for poor and my priority is to help the disabled as they cant work for their daily bread and it is gives me immense satisfaction to me to hand over wheel chairs for the beneficiaries. I request people for their continued support".

MLA Mohiuddin Bava, businessman Harish G Amin, retired SP Pitambara Heraje, city mayor Kavitha Sanil, district Congress president Harish Kumar and others were present.
