Goa: CM urged to erect Shivaji’s statue in city


Bicholim, Dec 9 (TOI): The Shiv Premi Association has urged chief minister Manohar Parrikar to erect a special statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the state capital, and has also demanded a special museum dedicated to the former king.

The president of the association, Jayesh Thali, on Friday submitted a memorandum to the chief minister mentioning several demands.

"This year, we are completing 350 years when Shivaji Maharaj arrived in the state. In this regard, we have put forth several demands before the chief minister, and we hope that the government will look into these demands," said Thali.


The memorandum has also urged the government to repair the forts and other monuments related to Shivaji Maharaj. They have also demanded the inclusion of atleast one lesson in the school syllabus.
