Mangaluru: Rationalist Dr Arunachalam Kumar passes away

Mangaluru, Dec 8: Dr Arunachalam Kumar, Ex-Professor of Anatomy of KMC Mangaluru and then a Dean at Nitte, passed away on Thursday, December 7.

He was an exceptionally talented man with multifaceted persona. He was a polymath, a polyglot, rationalist, ardent cricket lover, a student leader, bird watcher, lateral thinker, popular teacher, an artist, nature lover, cryptic crossword expert, a writer, blogger, author and a humanist.

He was 67. He had battled lung cancer for almost two years.

Son of an IAS Officer Dr Arunachalam who originally hailed from Chennai came to Mangaluru and Manipal for his education and later made Mangaluru his home.

    RIP Doctor.

    Doctors are the best persons who knows what is good and bad for health. But still we see lot of Doctors falling for smoking and drinking. We do not know the reasons.

    We have to only believe that human beings commit mistake even though they knew that it is a mistake.

    He was a simple man -great guy!
    Could be rational and scientific at the same time.
    Great teacher and his Anatomy drawings and teaching were amazing.
    RIP Dr. Kumar.
    Will always remember your bike, newspaper and cigarette in front of Wenlock and Tajmahal were you went to have coffee.
