New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI): Reacting to the US' announcement recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital, India today said its position on Palestine is independent, consistent and not determined by any third country.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said India's position on Palestine is shaped by its own views and interests and not determined by any third country.

"India's position on Palestine is independent and consistent. It is shaped by our views and interests, and not determined by any third country," he said responding to a query regarding India's position on recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the US.

President Donald Trump had yesterday recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital, reversing decades of US and international policy on the holy city.

    USA has already recognized yesterday, Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered US embassy to move there from Tel Aviv, without asking any country's opinion. Looks like lion doesn't lose the sleep over the opinions of the sheep.

    ..you have no idea about ISRAEL/INDIA relationship..in every war with Pakistan, Israel helped us(since Indira Gandhi time)..even in Kargil war, Israel defense specialist was deployed in Indian war room..Heavy military equipment secretly airlifted from Israel..infact, Israelis ready to distroy Pak Nuke site but Indira Gandhi was reluctant..ISREAL alway stood by us in UN on Kashmir but whats stand of palestene on kashmir!!..we can bet on ISRAEL anytime..

    we can bet on Israel anytime, about palestine though not so sure.
    palestine didnt give any statements during any of the terrorists acts on India, But Israel always supported India.
    Modi was the first PM who visited Israel without going to palestine.

    Jerusalem is a holy city to both the christians and the Jews.

    We have nothing to do with Mecca and Madina and cropped and famed during the Islamisation period of 1400 years or prior to First Century.

    All nations were aware of only an OKAZ festival where all the religious people were worshipping Idols and few idols including a cube stone is still existed in Mecca.

    ..In 1967, ISRAEL was attacked by EGYPT/SYRIA/IRAQ/LEBANON/JORDAN..these countries lost battle within 6 days..just look what happened to these countries later..except JORDAN (which became a close friend of Israel) all other countries are ruined(LEBANON next)..don't mess with ISRAEL, they don't forgive you..follow live n let them live..

    Modi will not go against America.
    Due to all developments in neighbouring countries, India needs support from USA in shaping future straregies, melitary wise in economic zone.
    He is the only PM of India, who visited Israel, post Indepence with out any hesitation of being a target for Arab countries criticism.
