Kasargod: Sand mafia uses sugar bags to transport illegal sand, truck seized

Kasargod, Dec 6: Sand mafia which invents new techniques, to deceive the police from catching them, has come up with a new idea of transporting the sand in sugar bags. A truck, carrying illegal sand in the said method, was confiscated at Trikarpur.

Police personnel of Chandera police station stopped a truck that was plying from Mangaluru to Kannur, for checking at Trikarpur. When they opened the mini container, they found, to their utter dismay, that the sand was being transported in white bags, which are generally used for packing sugar.

154 bags of sand have been seized in the operation. 

Abdul Rehman (28), a resident of Mangaluru, who was driving the truck, has been arrested in this connection.

    The day is not not so far, we need to import sand from abroad for construction. and the reputed AC shop's will sell the Sand.

    Why sand is not available in Kasargod & Kannur ?
    If so government should allow to import and from other countries.
    Why people should face problems ?
