Udupi, Dec 4: The valedictory function of DSIA’s 3-day Industrial Expo 2017 was held on Sunday, December 3 at Beedinagudde open theatre ground. A souvenir was also released on the occasion.

K Socrates, deputy director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was the chief guest for the event. Addressing the gathering he said, “We have cordial relation with Udupi association. MSME supports ‘Make in India’ project. Small scale industries use local resources and skills and not in high technologies. The products of micro scale industries are truly the ‘Make in India’ products.

“Every micro scale industry is competitive. Small scale industries not only compete for market but also to use resources like land, labour or input power. They have come out from internal competition and joined the association for the welfare of the group. Due to competition, there was neither mentor nor a visionary leader. Now under the association, it will go towards the right direction.

“There have been huge developments in DSIA in the last 25 years. Entrepreneurs in Udupi are much more qualified than any other districts educationally as well as intellectually.

“The future younger generations are equally committed and hard working. If they continue working hard, they will reach the milestone successfully. Every association should have their own branch. Apart from that, rules and regulations, marketing opportunity, revelry, competition and mission are important.

“These kinds of programmes are mutually helpful to common association. Participation is important in such event. If there is no participation, there will be no real meaning for the event. That has to be improved. An association has to be not only reactive, but also pro-active in the days to come,” said Socrates.

Ramanand Nayak, joint director, DIC, Udupi district, released the souvenir of the event and said, “Previously, Karnataka State Financial Corporation was the only organization to provide loans to small scale industries, but now all licensing regulations have been simplified.

“Let DSIA continue the industrial expo every year or once in two years. This will help in businessmen and industrialists build contact in the society and association. The public needs to be aware of manufacturing, technology and up-gradation. This is an eye opener for public and it will help in guiding emerging entrepreneurs. There should be more participation at the state level as that would help to expand one’s business area.

Shankar Suvarna, chairman and Jagadeesh Rao, co-chairman of exhibition committee also spoke on the occasion and received felicitation from DSIA for their dedicated work.

Sudheer Nayak, president, DSIA, Vasnth Kini, secretary, DSIA, Hrishikesh Hegde, treasurer, DSIA, I K Fernandez, sovenir Ccmmittee, and Ramesh Kini, souvenir editor were present.
